드라마 캐릭터에 투영된 여성상의 변화가 메이크업에 미치는 영향 = Impact of Drama Characters’ Use of Makeup on Changes in the Female Image－Focused on Characters in the Drama <Jang Huibin> Observed from 1988 to 2013－

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper analyzed the female image reflected in the character “Jang Huibin,” the most frequently selected main character in the 30-year historic drama, and investigated the changes in makeup. Following is the analysis of makeup changes along with changes in women’s images reflected in the character “Jang Huibin” from 1988 to 2013. The images changed in the order of femme fatale by dichotomy in the authoritarian age, characteristic femme fatale reflecting the fever of Generation X, woman with multi-phasic characters, woman agonizing between
rationality and emotion, and leading woman realizing self. It was found that makeup changed in the order of makeup emphasizing color, makeup emphasizing the contour of the face, makeup emphasizing eyes and lips, makeup emphasizing eyebrows and eyes, and natural makeup emphasizing basic makeup. In accordance with the analysis, the female images changed depending on the times, social environment, and the demands of the public. Makeup also changed along with the change in women’s images. Considering that soap dramas reflect reality, further
studies should focus on a variety of female characters in the historic drama to estimate the change in women’s images and then contribute to the makeup industry.
