Today's understanding-oriented art education presents several new forms of art education method unlike the former education which was interested in only developing originality. Aesthetic education, multicultural art education, DBAE that is, art education based on learning belong to it. In accordance with this change of art education method, each section, art history, art criticism and aesthetics has to be taught generally. Therefore the necessity of instructor's professional knowledge of it calls for the museum education. One of the tasks which the future art education will deal with is lifelong learning, that is, bringing up academic ability essential to enjoy and understand the art for the abundant life, which has to be carried out in connection with appreciation education. Many scholars recommend a museum as a suitable place where these aims can be accomplished
This study aims to develop the art appreciation education, that is, to implement the appreciation education with high quality which helps abundant aesthetic experience and expression in contact with the real specimens, relics and works in a museum by extension of appreciating reference materials in the textbook and to develope the museum education program which values the museum as a educational and cultural institution by expanding the program connected with school.
The contents and methods of this study are as follows.
The theoretical background for the importance of the museum education and art appreciation education was checked, and the museum education program was designed to find the connection between school and the museum education through the analysis of elementary school curriculum and textbook. In addition, the effective method of art appreciation education was showed through application of the museum education program.
The importance of museum appreciation education are as follows.
First, the strongest point of museum appreciation education is appreciation of real materials irreplaceable with duplicates, of which unique characteristics students can feel directly. Second, through the process of direct observation learning, conversation, meaning endowment, internalization, students bring up their own aesthetic sense, and make independent learning method of appreciation education. Third, it gives the chance to understand cultural space, to foster the quality as a cultured citizen and the proper cultural consciousness of general culture such as our history and tradition.
Most of schools conducts appreciation education through museum once a year, and the actual conditions are as follows. The 90% of teachers answer that the museum education is necessary in the process of elementary education. The museum which teachers like and visit often is National Daegu Museum. The major programs used there are students' taking notes themselves, writing up reports and work sheet(for appreciation) made by guiding teacher's own, and the minor are listening to guide explanation of museum's education officer and using guide book and work sheet offered by museum.
On the other hand, the work sheet for students made by museum and the guide explanation by a specialist in education are the answers to the question, what is the most necessary for the appreciation through the museum education in museum. 79% of all are negative answers to the question, whether the program of museum is based on the school curriculum. The passage evokes the necessity of developing the museum education for art appreciation program in connection with school, and has close connection with this study.
The work sheet(for appreciation) most essential to teachers is a guide or supportive instrument which makes appreciators watch the work carefully and find the meaning of the work. In addition, it has the intention which makes watch art work with affection and interest and catch the character and meaning of the work as a whole, and has a goal to help self-appreciation.
The problem of appreciation education in elementary school is examined, and there are the solutions for this problem: designing and conducting systematic training program of appreciation education, supplying the materials of teaching·learning and reference for the appreciation education and developing of work sheet(for appreciation) with contents related with school curriculum about the museum education for art appreciation which has various appreciation materials.

Furthermore, art work was analyzed through the analysis of elementary school art curriculum, and a investigation was made in connection with National Daegu Museum. Work sheet(for appreciation) was developed by relating articles in exhibition with the contents of textbooks of 3, 4, 5, 6 grade. It can be used for self-leading appreciation in the field-experience learning of school or free appreciation on Saturday with no class.
The museum education using work sheet(for appreciation) developed in this study was set up to make aesthetic experience and appreciation activity of art curriculum easy, foster appreciation criticism ability on art work effectively, and give direct and practical help to understand the art history and express activity of art.
