다문화 영어 동화를 활용한 초등 영어 다문화 수업 모형 개발에 관한 연구 = A study on the development of a multicultural instruction model in primary English education using multicultural children's literature

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to develop an effective multicultural instruction model in primary English education using multicultural children's literature. To accomplish the objective, the researchers examined the importance and meaning of cultural education in primary English education and analyzed the value and limitation of English-multicultural integrated education through the current research trends. Also, on the basis of the literature research about multicultural education instruction models, they developed a three-step instruction model called KUT (Knowledge-Understanding-Taking action) to integrate multicultural instruction into English education, which is expected to be systematically applicable in primary education field. Moreover, they introduced some meaningful multicultural children’s literature and class activities which could be easily applied in the multicultural instruction in primary English education. The pilot class activities and some students’ production were presented to show how KUT instruction model could work in primary English education.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 다문화 영어 동화를 활용하여 초등 영어 수업에서 다문화 교육을 효과적으로 운영할 수 있는 초등 영어 다문화 통합 수업 모형을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 초등 교육에서의 문화 교육의 중요성과 의미를 확인하고, 초등 영어교육에서의 다문화 통합 수업에 관한 최근 연구 동향 조사를 통해 영어-문화 통합 수업의 가치와 한계에 대한 분석을 했다. 또한 다문화 교육 수업 모형에 대한 문헌 조사를 바탕으로 초등 영어교육 현장에서 체계적으로 적용 가능한 다문화 통합 수업 모형(KUT: 지식-이해-적용)을 개발하였다. 개발된 KUT 모형 수업에서 단계별로 활용 가능한 다문화 영어 동화와 수업 활동의 예를 제시하였으며 수업 모형에 따라 진행한 차시별 수업 사례와 활동 결과물을 통해 초등 영어교육에서의 의미 있는 다문화 통합 수업의 가능성을 제안한다.
