This paper analyses the process of privatization of the state-owned farmland in the former East Germany after unification of Germany. This analysis is carried out in three steps. The first section describes the historical background and the development process of the state-owned farmland in the former East Germany. In the next section, legal bases and their meaning for the development of privatization concepts are briefly outlined. In the third section, the most important concepts of the privatization that has been discussed until the $quot;Act of the Compensation and Reparation$quot; was passed the Assembly, were reviewed, including the role of the lease system of state-owned farmland in the course of privatization. Lastly It is attempted to draw the political implication of the privatization in case of the unification of the Korean peninsular.
