Final purpose : Research partnership development for lung precision medicine
○ UK: Bayliss group from Leeds University has protein structure analysis and new chemical synthesis technologies. Choi group from Asan Medical Center has in vitro drug evaluation and lung patients’ data. The two groups could be synergistic for lung targeted medicine development & research.
○ August 22 ∼ 28 in 2017: Choi group (3 persons) visited Leeds University: Andrew Fryer group (Univsersity of Leicester), St. James’s University Hospital and Bayliss group discussed about lung ALK-positive patient study and setup milestones for co-work.
○ October 7 ∼12 in 2017: Bayliss group visited Asan Medical Center (AMC). Bayliss and Choi group held mini-symposium. Two seminars were presented by Bayliss group and discuss about future researched with 5 PI at AMC.
○ May 2 ∼7 in 2018: Bayliss group (2 persons) visited AMC and held workshop for collaboration between two country (Reeds University and AMC) and decided to establish a Dry Discovery Center.
○ Choi-Bayliss team visited total 3 times and progressed in research. The two teams will write an international research grant to develp research further
○ Drug Discovery Center will be established for new targeting drugs. The centers (AMC in Korea and Leeds in UK) will raise research funds and will start candidate biomarker development

최종 목표 : 폐암 맞춤 치료제 개발을 위한 공동 연구 수행
○ 영국: Bayliss 연구팀의 oncogenic protein의 단백질 구조 분석과 항암제 스크린 기술과 최진 연구팀의 in vitro 항암제 반응성 평가, 폐암 환자 유전체 및 병리 분석 기능을 합하여 정밀의료 (precision medicine)를 위한 연구/개발을 수행
○ 2017년 8월22일 ∼ 28일: 한국 최진 교수팀이 영국 리즈대학교를 방문. Andrew Fryer (University of Leicester), St. James’s University Hospital (리드대학교 부속병원) 연구진과 통합적인 폐암 ALK-positive cancer 연구를 실시하기로 함.
○ 2017년 10월7일 ∼ 12일: 영국 Bayliss팀이 한국을 방문하여 중간 연구결과를 발표하는 회의를 함. 한국의 서울아산병원 연구진 5명을 방문하여 연구협력 논의. 심포지움 개최.
○ 2018년 5월2일 ∼ 7일: 영국 Bayliss팀이 한국 2차 방문. 최진팀과 Bayliss팀이 공동 워크샵을 개최함. 서울아산병원 Drug Discovery Center와 연구 협력을 위한 회의를 2차례 개최. Reeds 대학과 서울아산병원의 공동 신약개발센터 설립 합의.
○ 최진-Richard Bayliss 연구팀의 총 3회 방문으로 폐암연구를 더 발전시켜 공동 연구비 신청 등의 전략을 세움
○ Bayliss 연구팀의 단백질 구조분석 기술과 서울아산병원의 환자를 통한 새로운 치료 마커 자료를 상호교환하여 신약개발 프로젝트를 실행하는 센터 설립에 상호 동의
