쇼팽의 <가곡 Op. 74>에서 나타나는 독창적인 음악적 요소들- 반음계적 화성 어법을 중심으로 = The Innovative Musical Elements in Chopin’s Songs, Op. 74 - With Focus on Chromatic Harmony

This study aims to present a new approach to Chopin’s music by examining Frédéric Chopin‘s reading and reinterpretation of poetic texts in his own musical language through the medium of songs. The focus is on Songs, Op. 74, a collection often considered peripheral to Chopin’s main oeuvre and has remained relatively less examined compared to his piano works. This research provides an overview of the background and characteristics of Songs, Op. 74 and analyzes four selected songs, which demonstrate Chopin’s chromatic harmonic language as the primary vehicle for text-music relationships. Unlike his instrumental music, Chopin used chromatic harmonies in his songs to reflect the text’s meaning, atmosphere, and the emotional nuances of the poetic speaker. Through this process, the study seeks to not only offer a broader comprehensive analysis of Chopin’s lesser-studied songs, but also to deepen our understanding of his style.
