The purpose of this study was to examine the learning style of college students majoring in beauty arts and the relationship of their learning style and major to their satisfaction with curriculum and preference for teaching proceeding method. It`s basically meant to pave the way for the development of the best curriculum and teaching method to boost the learning efficiency of beauty arts majors. The brief findings of the study were as follows: First, cooperative and dependent learning styles were prevalent among the college students who majored in beauty arts. By major, the cooperative style was common among the hairdressing majors, and the dependent style was dominant among those who majored in skin care and makeup. Second, what factors they considered to be useful for their studies was analyzed, and the students replied that the teaching methods of professors were most conducive. By major, the skin care majors answered an optimum class size(20 students or less) was of great use, and the hairdressing majors regarded the teaching methods of professors as very helpful(x2=18.77, p<.05). Third, their preference for teaching method was analyzed, and the students viewed practice-centered instruction as the most effective teaching method. Those who majored in skin care and had a competitive learning style considered practice-centered instruction to be effective. Given the findings of the study, colleges that provided beauty arts education should keep track of the learning styles of students who major in different fields of study, and should put their efforts into the development of curriculums and teaching methods appropriate for their learning style and major in a move to improve their learning effects.
