直指의 字跡에 나타난 直指活字의 特徵 硏究 = Investigating the Characteristics of Jikji Types Based on Type Traces Appearing in Jikji

국문 초록 (Abstract)

직지의 자적을 분석하여 직지활자의 특징과 제작방법 등을 추적하였다.1) 직지활자의 특징으로는 단필기포너덜이필획 어긋남서체 불균형크기 불균일결필약필약자번필 등을 들 수 있다.2) 직지활자의 어미자는 목재가 아닌 연한 재질에 조각하였다.3) 직지활자는 조선시대에 사용된 주물사 주조법으로 제작된 것이 아니었다.4) 직지활자는 통일된 과정으로 일시에 주조한 것이 아니었다. 계획 초기에는 전문가에 의하여 대부분의 활자가 주조된 후, 부족분은 비전문가에 의하여 수시로 보충되었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempted to infer the characteristics and production methods of Jikji types based on type traces in Jikji.1) Jikji types were characterized by broken strokes, blowholes, superfluous matters, irregular strokes, unbalanced character styles, unstandardized character sizes, omitted strokes, abridged strokes, simplified characters, and redundant strokes.2) The Jikji type matrix was carved into soft material other than wood.3) Jikji types were not produced by the sand mould casting method used in Chosun dynasty.4) Jikji type was not cast with single, unified procedure. Most of the types were cast by experts at the early stage of planning, whereas the remaining types were occasionally supplemented by inexperienced personnel.
