We have developed a handy type urine analyzer and software, which can convert the detected light intensity to semi quantitative clinical values. The test items include the urinary urobilinogen, glucose and protein. We use a dry test strip as the matrix of the chemical reaction between the sample and reagents. Differential color intensities develop on the matrix relative to the concentration of analytical items and the reagents embedded in the matrix. When a visible light source irradiate the surface of the reacted test strip, the liquid constituents absorb the light and the solid colored constituent reflect the light of various wavelengths. The developed system consequently showed a good reliability and reproducibility as coefficient of variation value is below 5%.
