The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of factors of parent on the athletic movement ability in 4-5 years old children. The factors include parent’s perceptions of the importance of athletic movement, parent’s involvement in children’s physical activity and physical environment scale provided by parent. The subjects consisted of 551 children aged from four to five years in 8 private kindergartens. The instruments used for this study were the obstacle course of Project Spectrum for measuring movement ability, and the questionnaire to investigate parent’s characteristics such as perception, involvement and physical home environment. The data from the tests were analyzed by correlation and regression analyses. The test results show that the father’s involvement in children’s physical activities and the physical home environment scale are very important factors of developing the athletic movement ability of children. But the parent’s perceptions of the importance of athletic movement is a lesser important factor.
