이광수 소설에 나타난 연애의 의미 연구 = Study of the Meaning on "Love Affair" in Lee Gwang-su's Novels

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

"Love/Love Affair" are essential themes in discussing Lee Gwang-su seeing that most of the existing studies on Lee Gwang-su have dealt with the themes on "Love/Love Affair" and Lee Gwang-su gives an account of "Love/Love Affair" in lots of his discourses and novels. The themes on "Love/Love Affair" are related with periodic characteristics of "Modern", and one of the important characteristic of "Modern" was that the recognition and the experience of individuals stand the center of the all values, in other words, the desire and the will of modern subject became important. In this point, "Love/Love Affair" is one of the most outstanding symbol that shows modernity well.
However, the "Love Affair" as the idea of social relation was allowed after "modern time", "modern space" and "modern subject" were established, whereas the "Love" as the realm of emotion had been existing before the modern age. Therefore, the noteworthy themes in discussing the modernity and modern literature is not "Love" but "Love Affair", and the our pedantic point must be not the emotion, "Love" but "Love Affair" as the concrete type of relationship.
For establishing the "Love Affair" as the modern symbol, the two preconditions occupy the first place in addition to the basic emotion of "Love". One is the modern subject being able to build up horizontal human relationship of modernistic shape, and the other is modernistic time and space. From this point of view, his novels show the "Love" as the abstract idea of passion, however, "Love Affair" as the horizontal relationship between modern subjects with a modernistic setting can't be found.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이광수에 대한 기존 논의 가운데 상당수가 ‘사랑/연애’의 문제를 중요하게 다루고 있으며, 이광수의 논설과 소설에서도 ‘사랑/연애’의 문제가 자주 거론되는 점 등으로 미뤄보아 이광수를 논하는데 있어 ‘사랑/연애’는 분명 중요한 주제라 할 수 있다. ‘사랑/연애’라는 테마는 ‘근대’라는 시대적의 특수성과 관련된 것으로, 근대성의 주된 특성 중 하나로 개인의 인식과 경험이 가치관의 중심에 놓이게 된 것 즉, 근대적 주체의 욕망과 의지가 중요해진 것을 꼽을 수 있다. 이런 점에서 ‘사랑/연애’는 근대성이 가장 잘 드러나는 표상의 하나이다.그러나 감정의 영역으로서의 ‘사랑’이 근대 이전부터 존재했던 개념이라면, 사회적 관계의 문제인 ‘연애’는 근대적 주체가 확립되고 근대적 시공간이 마련되고 난 이후에야 비로소 가능해진 것이다. 따라서 근대성, 근대문학을 논할 때 주목해야 할 테마는 엄밀히 말하자면 ‘사랑’이 아니라 ‘연애’이며, 이광수의 소설에서 살펴봐야 할 것도 ‘사랑’의 감정보다는 ‘연애’라는 구체적 관계의 형태일 것이다. 근대적 표상으로서의 ‘연애’가 성립되기 위해서는 기본적으로 사랑이라는 감정 외에도, 근대적 형태의 수평적 인간관계를 형성할 수 있는 인식을 갖춘 근대적 주체와 구체적인 근대적 시공간이라는 연애의 조건들이 수반되어야 한다. 이러한 연애의 조건들을 기준으로 이광수의 소설을 살펴보았을 때, 그의 소설에는 감정으로서의 열정과 추상적 관념으로서의 ‘사랑’은 엿보이나, 구체적인 근대적 시공간을 배경으로 한 근대적 주체들 간의 수평적 관계맺음이라는 ‘연애’는 찾을 수 없다는 결론에 이르게 된다.
