Savonius rotors generally cannot complete with either a propeller-type or a Darrieus wind turbine on an aerodynamic performance basis. However, because the technology required to fabricate a Savonius rotor is considerably less than that required for more sophisticated types of wind turbine, Savonius rotor may find more applications in developing countries as well as in do-it-yourself project.
In this paper proposed the wind turbine system using vertical axis wind turbine adopted combination blade method that assembled a Savonius blade inboard and a half cylinder blade on outside. And proposed the power conversion system has a generating capacity of one kilowatts and that can control maximum power.
The system obtained the characteristics that the turbine have generation maximum power 259[W] at TSR=0.7 and good inverter, battery charge characteristics.
