This study analyzed the energy consumption characteristics of an aged building. A base model was constructed for a detailed energy performance investigation to establish a green remodeling plan for old apartment complexes. Analysis of the energy consumption characteristics using the change point model revealed that heating energy consumption accounted for the largest proportion, followed by base energy and cooling energy. In constructing the base model for energy performance evaluation, the building components were set to the standards at the time of completion and the model was adjusted for the factors affecting energy consumption. A comparison between the calibrated model’s energy consumption and the actual energy consumption showed a Cv (RMSE) of 14.69%, indicating that it was suitable for use as a base model. Results showed that window replacement alone was sufficient in meeting the energy saving target. In contrast, insulation reinforcement and boiler replacement were found to be insufficient in achieving the energy saving target. These findings confirm that window replacement is an essential green remodeling strategy for improving the energy performance of aged apartment complexes.
