결혼이민여성의 아동양육 관련 지역사회 지지가 자아존중감에 미치는 영향 = The influence of childrearing-related community support of married immigrant women on self-esteem

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 우리나라에서 국제결혼을 하는 사례가 증가함에 따라 결혼이민여성이 많아지고 있다. 그러나 결혼이민여성은 여러 가지 심리적ㆍ사회적 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이에 따라 결혼이민여성에게는 높은 자아존중감이 필요한데, 자아존중감을 증진시키는 주요한 요인들 가운데 하나가 사회적 지지이다. 그런데 결혼이민여성이 겪는 어려움 중의 하나는 아동양육이다. 따라서 아동양육 영역에서의 사회적 지지는 결혼이민여성의 자아존중감을 향상하는데 긍정적인 역할을 할 수 있다. 결혼이민여성과 관련해 그간 자주 거론된 사회적 지지는 가족 지지이었다. 하지만 지역사회 수준의 사회적 지지도 결혼이민여성의 자아존중감을 증진하는데 큰 역할을 한다. 이런 맥락에서 본 연구에서는 결혼이민여성이 아동양육과 관련해 얻는 지역사회 지지가 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 본 연구의 결과, 지역사회 지지는 결혼이민여성의 자아존중감을 가장 잘 예측하는 변수로 나타났다. 이런 연구 결과에 근거하여, 본 연구에서는 케어 영역에서의 실천적ㆍ정책적ㆍ학문적 제언을 몇 가지 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The number of married immigrant women in Korea has steadily increased, but they are frequently faced with a variety of problems. To surmount these problems, married immigrant women need a high level of self-esteem. In this respect, social support plays a prominent role in enhancing their self-esteem. On the other hand, married immigrant women are highly likely to have difficulties in the childrearing area. Thus social support in relation with childrearing of married immigrant women is expected to enhance their self-esteem. So far, however, little attention has been paid to the community-level social support, though it belongs to an important type of social support. Therefore this study aims at exploring to what extent the community-level social support in relation with childrearing has influence upon the self-esteem of married immigrant women. The results of this study indicate that community-level social support is the strongest determinant of self-esteem of married immigrant women. Some implications are suggested in this study.
