숙녀복 DOWN WEAR DESIGN 개발에 관한 연구 = (A) Study on Lady's Down Wear Design Development

국문 초록 (Abstract)

20세기 이후 물질적으로 풍요로워지고 과학기술의 발달로 노동시간의 절대량이 감소된 현대사회는, 사회구성원의 여가 활동이 증가하고 건강과 외모에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 삶의 질을 보다 편안하고 윤택하게 영위하는 것이 주요 관심사가 되었다. 이와 함께 개개인의 라이프 스타일에 급격한 변화가 초래 되었고, 소비패턴도 종래의 양적 소비에서 질적 소비로 바뀌는 추세를 보이고 있다.
여가활동의 증가와 관련하여 스포츠 캐쥬얼이 패션의 주요 품목으로 부상 하였으며, 그 중에서 특히 DOWN WEAR는 F/W 시즌의 인기 있는 패션 상품으로서 높은 매출 이익을 발생시키기 때문에 숙녀복 브랜드들의 중요 아이템으로 인지되어 왔다. 그러나 1990년대 이후에는 DOWN WEAR가 스포츠 캐쥬얼 뿐만 아니라 숙녀복, 아동복, 남성복 등 전반적 부문에서, 기능성과 실용성을 강화하고 여성스러운 실루엣도 동시에 추구할 수 있는 패션상품으로 급부상 하였다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이를 소재, 제작의 측면에서나 디자인 면에서 심도 깊게 고찰한 국내외 선행연구가 전혀 없는 실정이다.
본 연구의 목적은 DOWN이 가지는 특성을 이해하고 이를 응용하여 최적의 생산 프로세스를 제안하며, F/W 시즌 뿐 만 아니라 S/S 시즌에도 착용할 수 있는 크로스오버(Crossover)용 작품을 개발함으로써 이 부문의 연구 영역을 확장하는데 있다.
DOWN을 패션상품으로 제작하는 데는 그 물리적 특성상 봉제 기법과 소재 선택에서 많은 제한사항이 있으므로, 이들을 충분히 고려하여 최적의 방식을 선택하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 따라서 본 연구는 DOWN의 역사와 특성을 고찰하고 국내외 디자이너의 작품을 분석한 후 이를 패션상품에 구체적으로 응용하여, 패션 소재로서의 DOWN의 장점을 최대한 살릴 수 있는 디자인 개발과 그 제작 방법을 제안하였다. 현재의 DOWN WEAR 시장 현황을 파악하기 위하여 해외 디자이너의 작품과 국내 숙녀복 브랜드의 DOWN WEAR를 분석한 결과, 해외 디자이너는 주로 창작 작품으로 표현한 것에 비해 국내 브랜드에서는 실질적인 동절기 매출을 주도하는 패션 상품으로 자리 잡고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
본 연구에서는 먼저, 소비자가 선호하는 DOWN WEAR 패션제품을 VEST, JACKET, JUMPER, COAT, ONE-PIECE, SKIRT의 유형으로 분류하여 일반 숙녀 기성복에 응용 가능하도록 디자인·제작하였고, 이와 병행하여 예술적으로 표현한 고급화된 DOWN WEAR 작품을 디자인·제작하였다. 특히 DOWN WEAR는 봉제 방법에 따라 의상에서의 표현성이 다양하게 변화되기 때문에, 이를 충분히 반영하여 기능성과 패션성을 동시에 만족시키는 창의적인 디자인을 개발하고 상품화 가능성을 높이는데 주력하였다.
패션의 소재부문 연구의 확장에 기여하고, DOWN 소재를 사용한 일상복 디자인과 아트웨어 디자인을 병행하여 개발·제작함으로써 디자인의 다양성을 제시하며, 이를 국내외 DOWN WEAR 연구의 기초자료로 삼는데 본 연구의 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The rapid development of science technology during the 20th century has greatly lowered the hours for labor thus giving members of society extra time for leisure. This increased leisure time is used to satisfy our interest in health and beauty, and making the quality of our lives more comfortable is what we now focus on. This in turn initiates a change in consumer behavior, from quantity consumption to that of quality.
With the growing of leisure activities, sports casual wear has become one of leading item in the fashion industry, and among such sports casual, DOWN WEAR has become the F/W season's most popular item. Because it generates high profits, many recognize it very important in lady's wear. Since the 1990's, DOWN WEAR has ceased to be sports casual only, and with functional and pragmatic aspects being added, it was widely applied to various sections of lady's, men's and children's wear. Despite this fact, there is currently no domestic or foreign academic research involving material and/or design in this field.
The purpose of this study is to fully understand the characteristics of DOWN, and to utilize this understanding to propose an efficient means of manufacture, and to develop Crossover garments design desired not only in the F/W season but also the S/S season.
It has to be taken into consideration that many restrictions in sewing technique and material selection in manufacturing DOWN as a fashion product when choosing a means of manufacture. That is why this study focuses on the history and characteristic of DOWN while analysing the works of domestic and foreign designers to concretely applicate them in fashion products. The current condition of the DOWN WEAR market is as follows' foreign designers usually designed creative works while domestic brands lead the winter season with practical sales in mind.
This study has divided DOWN WEAR products according to consumer preference' VEST, JACKET, COAT, ONE-PIECE, and SKIRT to applicate design·manufacture in lady's wear in general, while designing and making artistically expressed DOWN WEAR. Because DOWN WEAR has drastic changes in expression according to sewing method and technique, the works presented in this study were designed with both fashion and function in mind while being marketable at the same time.
The significance of this study is that it helps expand research on materials in fashion, and that it presents variety of design in everyday dress and art wear as well. This will become base data in DOWN WEAR research in this field.
