This paper describes a passenger car using CVT(Continuously Variable Transmission) that has torsional coupling device as solid flywheel with torsional damper, focusing in particular on launching characteristics. To reduce drive-line torsional vibration, some torsional coupling devices were used for the passenger car with CVT having the wet type multi-plate clutch as a starting device. The starting characteristics of the passenger car that are considered here are acceleration performance and creep characteristic. By using the mathematical modeling of this system, the computer simulation program was developed. The program result was verified through the road test of prototype car.
