일본 전통문화의 감정 콘텐츠화 전략 연구 : 넷플릭스 드라마 <마이코네 행복한 밥상>(2023)을 중심으로 = A Study on the Emotional Content Strategy of Japanese Traditional Culture : Focusing on the Netflix Drama “The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House” (2023)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 넷플릭스 드라마 <마이코네 행복한 밥상>(舞妓さんちのまかないさん,2023)을 중심으로 일본 전통문화가 현대 콘텐츠 속에서 어떻게 감정 중심의 이야기로 재구성되고, 정서적 실천으로 표현되는지를 분석하였다. 이 작품은 마이코 문화, 전통 의례, 음식과 같은 요소들을 내면의 감정 흐름과 관계 중심의 서사 구조에 결합시키며, 전통문화의 외형적 재현을 넘어서 감성 기반의 콘텐츠 전략을 구사하고 있다.
이러한 전통문화의 감정적 재현과 서사화 양상을 규명하기 위해, 본 연구는 총 9화의 에피소드 전개를 바탕으로 전통문화 요소들이 감정의 흐름과 관계 변화 속에서 어떻게 기능하는지를 분석하였다. 먼저 3막 구조와 감정 곡선 분석을 통해 드라마의 내러티브 리듬을 구조적으로 파악하였으며, 이어서 두 가지 축—전통 수행과 정서 실천—에 따라 구체적 장면을 고찰하였다. 첫째, 마이코 하우스를 중심으로 한 언어 화법, 신체 훈련, 공간 규율과 금기를 통해 정체성과 공동체 윤리가 어떻게 체화되는지를 분석하였다. 둘째, 주인공 키요의 음식 실천이 공동체의 감정 흐름을 조율하고 돌봄을 실천하는 감성적 행위로 작동하는 양상을 고찰하였다.
분석 결과 <마이코네 행복한 밥상>은 감정의 흐름을 통해 전통을 수행하고, 공동체의 정서 윤리를 형성하는 방식으로 전통문화의 현대적 의미를 재구성하고 있었다. 이는 일본 전통문화가 감성 중심의 서사를 통해 일상의 돌봄과 공동체적 유대를 실천하는 구체적인 콘텐츠 전략으로서 기능하고 있음을 보여주었다.

This study analyzes how traditional Japanese culture is reconstructed into emotion-centered narratives and expressed through emotional practices in contemporary media, focusing on the Netflix drama, The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House (舞妓さんちのまかないさん, 2023). The drama strategically combines traditional elements such as maiko culture, rituals, and food with an emotion-driven and relationship-focused narrative structure, going beyond mere external representations to establish an emotionally resonant content strategy.
To examine these emotional representations and narrativization of traditional culture, this study analyzed how traditional cultural elements function within the flow of emotions and relational dynamics across the drama’s nine episodes. First, the three-act structure and emotional arcs were used to structurally understand the narrative rhythm of the drama. Then, specific scenes were examined along two key axes: traditional practices and emotional practices. Firstly, it analyzed how identity and communal ethics were embodied through linguistic practices, physical training, spatial regulations, and taboos, centered around the Maiko House. Secondly, it examined how the protagonist Kiyo’s culinary practices served as emotional actions, mediating community relationships and facilitating care through emotional coordination.
The analysis revealed that The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House reconstructs the contemporary significance of traditional culture through emotional narratives, practicing tradition via emotional flows, and fostering communal emotional ethics. This demonstrates that traditional Japanese culture functions as a specific content strategy, embodying everyday care and communal bonds through emotion-focused storytelling.
