한국의 초등음악과 교육의 최근 동향 = The Recent Trends of Elementary Music Education in Korea

In this study with a view to reflect the elementary music education in the last half a century in korea. theories and methods of music education in Ameruca which have influenced those of Korea were explored, the change and the present state of elementary music education was explored through survey and interviews with teachers.
As for the theories and methods that have influenced music education in Korea, manhattanville music curriculum program(MMCP) and methodologies of Jaques-Dalcroze, Zoltan Kodaly, Carl Orff were reviewed.
In paralled with the researches of music educators in other countries, music education in Korea is geared to aesthetic experience of the essential quality of music, enhancement fo musical capacity, and the development of musical disposition. But the practice that we see in schools in very different. Instead of realizing the spirit of the curriculum, student' singing the songs in the textbook is emphasized.
It is needed is to produce theories and methods which can be used in practice, as well as the curriculum and the text book, based on the study of music education as a subject matter education.
In order to compile the text book which can be used as a guide leading to the essential quality of music, elements of music should be specified by the level of difficulty of the concepts and the grade level. The theme of the traditional music should be more included in the text book. In the teachers' guide, teaching materials and teaching methods need to be specificed based on the level of difficulty of the concepts, and various teaching methods to teach one song need to be illustrated. Teachers' guides will be useful when they are developed in the province level and as a result diversified.
