행복 교육의 주요 쟁점과 과제

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to discuss the place of happiness in education in terms of educational purposes and processes. In the aspect of purpose, I argue that the existing discussions tend to view the role of education as an instrument for realization of the happiness as defined externally irrespective of education. It is necessary to consider the standards of life aspect as well as the reality of life’ aspect of the concept of happiness if happiness education can help the growth and development of students as human beings. On the process side, I discussed the importance of the fact that correction and criticism are inevitable in education. I also argue that we need to focus on the changes of school education itself rather than the changes of students’ attitudes toward school life, though the latter may contribute partly to reflection on the life standard. Happiness education program or happiness lesson as a practice has a limit in that it does not consider the growth of the perspectives about the standards of life, and in that it can not suggest the direction of change of the school education. Important tasks for curriculum improvement for happiness education include the following: students should be able to reflect the meaning of their learning experiences on their own standards of life, and should be provided the opportunity to experience the joy of learning.
