Research Topic: The Impact of Club Activities on the Formation of Life's Meaning among University Students Research Background: Contemporary university students experience existential emptiness due to the competitive and achievement-oriented societal environment. This study highlights the role of club activities as a potential means to alleviate these issues.
Differences from Previous Research: While previous studies have mainly focused on superficial aspects like school adjustment and satisfaction related to club activities, this study deeply explores internal experiences related to life meaning formation based on Frankl's logotherapy theory.
Research Method: Utilizing Frankl's logotherapy theory and Van Manen's hermeneutic phenomenology, in-depth interviews were conducted and analyzed with nine university students.
Research Results: Participants discovered life's meaning through creative values, experiential values, and attitudinal values in their club activities. They experienced enhanced self-directedness, responsibility, relationship building, and emotional stability, thereby forming personal life meaning.
Contribution and Expected Effects: The study demonstrates that university club activities serve as significant venues for holistic growth and life meaning formation beyond mere recreational activities. It offers practical implications for university educational policy to foster active club involvement.
