청소년과 노년 세대간 태도 분석: 상호지향성 및 중요도-실행도 분석모형을 기초로 = Analysis of Intergenerational Attitude between the Youth and the Elderly: On the basis of Co-orientation Model and IPA

The purpose of this study is to examine the intergenerational gap between the youth and the elderly, to analyze their attitudes toward each other, and to propose the basic data for developing the intergenerational education program model. We surveyed 307 of the elderly over 55 of age and 459 of middle and high school students. The results of this study were as follows: ① Both of the youth and the elderly got an information of the other generation through the mass media and the elderly felt more intergenerational gap than the youth did. The youth felt the intergenerational gap most against their parent generation but the elderly did against 20s. ② On the co-orientation model, both generations thought the evaluation by the other generation more negative than that by themselves. And it was even more negative than the others' real evaluation. ③ On IPA(Importance Performance Analysis), both generations evaluated the youth positively in appearance and activity but negatively in disposition. However the attitude toward the elderly showed the opposite result. Finally an implication for developing the intergenerational education program was proposed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 청소년과 노인들의 세대차이에 대한 인식을 조사하고, 두 세대가 가지는 상대 세대에 대한 태도를 분석함으로써 세대통합 교육모형 개발의 기초적인 자료를 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 노인복지관, 교회 및 친목모임에 참여하는 60세 이상 279명과 서울에 소재한 3개 중학교와 2개 고등학교에서 459명의 청소년을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 연구결과에 따르면, 청소년과 노인 모두 주로 대중매체를 통하여 다른 세대에 관한 정보를 습득하고, 노인이 청소년에 비해 세대차이를 더 많이 인식하고 있으며, 청소년들은 부모세대인 40대에게, 노인들은 20대에게 세대차이를 가장 많이 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 두 세대가 서로에 대해서 가지고 있는 태도가 어느 정도 일치하는지를 상호지향성 모델을 통해 살펴본 결과, 청소년과 노인 두 집단 모두 자기 스스로에 대한 평가보다 상대 세대의 평가가 더 부정적일 것이라고 생각하고 있으며, 이러한 경향은 실제로 상대 세대가 보여준 평가결과보다도 더욱 부정적으로 나타났다. 상대 세대의 이미지에 대해 두 세대가 가지고 있는 공통점과 차이점을 분석하는 중요도-실행도 분석(IPA)에 따르면, 청소년에 대해 노인과 청소년 모두 공통적으로 가지는 긍정적인 이미지는 주로 외형적이고 활동적인 특성인 반면에, 부정적인 이미지는 기질적인 특징이 주를 이루었으며, 노인에 대한 태도에 있어서는 상반된 결과를 나타냈다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 결과에 기초하여 세대간의 무관심과 몰이해가 두드러지게 나타나고 있는 우리 사회에서 세대통합을 위한 효과적이고 효율적인 교육프로그램의 개발을 비롯한 관련 방안에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.
