The purposes of this study were to develop parent education program focused on communication with children, and to measure the effectiveness of this program. The program was composed of 7 sessions; cognition of self as a parent, parent-child relationship, talking method, understanding for child, listening method, synthetic communication, and follow-up. The program was applied to the small groups of parents with at least one teen-aged child. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated by taking pretest, posttest, and follow-up measure 4 weeks later. The major results were as follows: This parent education program had a positive effect on children`s open communication and communication apprehension immediately after the program, and this effect maintained at follow-up. The program had also positive impact on the improvement of parents` attitude and skills in communication with children and the satisfaction with oneself as a parent, the behavior of children, and relationship with children.
