The study of bioethics is interdisciplinary in nature, requiring value judgments of humanities and information from the natural sciences. But this characteristic has been taken for granted without discussing openly within the
filed. Therefore, this paper aims to analyze problems of studying bioethics as an interdisciplinary discipline. Preliminary survey results vividly reveal the gap between recognition and reality. Korean bioethicists fully recognize that the field is interdisciplinary. In reality, however, they hardly initiate interdisciplinary studies. They consider the difficulties of finding right co-researchers as a main reason of preventing them from trying interdisciplinary researches. Therefore, it is essential to provide bioethicists from diverse fields with an information and opportunities to contact.
