체육교사교육에서의 인성교육 탐색 = Character Education in Physical Education Teacher Education: A Review

국문 초록 (Abstract)

학교체육이 추구하는 목표 가운데 가장 이상적인 것이 있다면 그것은 전인교육이다. 신체활동을 매개로 하는 학교체육의 입장에서 전인교육의 핵심은 인성교육이다. 그동안 어느 정도의 성과는 있었지만, 학교체육이 이 일을 잘 해냈다고 자신있게 주장할 수 없는 것이 현실이다. 학생의 인성교육이 가능하려면, 가장 먼저 그 일을 하는 당사자인 체육교사부터 인성교육이 잘 되어있어야 할 것이다. 그동안 체육교육 분야에서는 학생을 위한 인성교육에는 관심을 보여왔으나, 체육교사를 위한 인성교육의 중요성에 대해서는 주목하지 못했다. 본 연구는 학교체육을 통한 전인교육이 실현되기 위해서는 무엇보다도 체육교사의 역할이 중요하다는 사실을 바탕으로, 체육교사교육에서 이루어져왔고 이루어져야 할 인성교육 탐구의 현황, 전망, 그리고 과제의 전반적 리뷰를 목적으로 한다. 먼저, 가르치는 일의 윤리적 본질과 그에 따라 교사의 인성적 자질이 교사전문성의 핵심 요소임을 확인함으로써 교사교육에서 인성교육이 필연적임을 주장한다(2절). 체육교사교육에서의 이해를 돕기 위하여 일반 교사교육 영역에서 예비교사를 위한 인성적 자질 함양을 다룬 연구들과 교육방법을 자세히 살펴본다(3절). 뒤이어 체육교사교육 분야에서의 연구관심이 미흡했음을 지적하고, 산발적으로 시도된 연구들을 토대로 앞으로 예비체육교사들의 인성함양을 위한 탐구전망을 정리한다. 그리고 체육교사교육 분야에서 시급히 노력해야 할 세 가지 과제를 제안하며 한다(4절).

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The education of character has been regarded as utmost important for the education of whole person. A variety of approaches and models for the teaching of character have been studied and developed. However, the moral education of teachers has not gathered as much attention as that of students. How to educate morally and ethically sound teachers is an important research topic to be sincerely inquired. This paper inquires into the issues of character education in physical education(PE) teacher education. Little attention has been given to the way how we prepare a morally humane PE teachers. First, the ethical nature of teacher professionalism is identified in the area of teaching and teacher education. Second, current research and practices in moral education in teacher preparation area are reviewed. Third, recent studies on the ethics of sport coaching and PE are identified and reviewed in relation with the education of teachers and coaches. There have been four strands of research in the character education of PE teacher education so far. Fourth, three tasks necessary for future practice and study are suggested.
