2012 at four selected stations in coastal area of Yeosu port, Korea. During the surveyed period, water temperature ranged from 4.8 ℃ to 26.1 ℃ (average water temperature: 15.3 ℃) and salinity from 27.9‰ to 33.4‰ (average salinity: 30.6‰). During the surveyed period, the copepods fauna of the Yeosu coast were identified in a total of twelve genuses, eighteen species (Acartia erythraea, A. hudsonica, A. ohtsukai, A. omorii, A. pacifica, A. tsuensis, Calanus plumchrus, C. sinicus, Centrophages abdominalis, Harpacticus sp., Paracalanus parvus, Tortanus forcipatus, Oithona sp., Oncaea sp., Canthocamptus staphylinus, Macrosetella gracilis, Corycaeus affinis, Monstrilla sp.). With the monthly distribution of appearance in the species composition, the maximum was nine species (A. ohtsukai, A. tsuensis, C.
sinicus, C. staphylinus, C. affinis, M. gracilis, Oithona sp., P. parvus, T. forcipatus) in September 2011 and the minimum five species (A. omorii, C. sinicus, C. staphylinus, Oithona sp., P. parvus) in December 2011. Six kinds of species were found during specific seasons; one species (Monstrilla sp.) in spring, four species (Acartia erythraea, A. pacifica, A. tsuensis, Harpacticus sp.) in fall, and one species (Acartia hudsonica) in winter. The four species (Canthocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus affinis, Oithona sp., Paracalanus parvus) and the larva (copepodites, nauplii) were observed throughout the four seasons. The monthly average of abundance of copepods in 4 stations including copepods larva (copepodites, nauplii) peaked by 9,089 indiv./m3 in June, 2011 and decreased to the lowest by 2,299 indiv./m3 in March, 2011. Monthly abundance at each station was at lowest 892 indiv./m3 in March, 2011 (Station 4) and was at highest 12,880 indiv./m3 in June, 2011 (Station 2). During the
study period, the dominant species of copepods were seven at each station: Acartia ohtsukai, Acartia omorii, Calanus sinicus, Canyhocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus abdominalis, Oithona sp., Paracalanus parvus.
The appearance of species varied with changes in water temperature. Between 20.1 ℃ and 25.0 ℃, the most number of observed species was twelve: Acartia ohtsukai, A. omorii, A. pacifica, A. tsuensis, Calanus sinicus, Paracalanus parvus, Tortanus forcipatus, Oithona sp., Oncaea sp., Canthocamptus staphylinus, Harpacticus sp., Corycaeus affinis. Between 0.0 ℃ and 5.0 ℃, the
least number of species emerged: Acartia omorii, Centrophages abdominalis, Paracalanus parvus,
Oithona sp., Corycaeus affinis, and between 25.1 ℃ and 30.0 ℃, another five species: Acartia ohtsukai, Paracalanus parvus, Oithona sp., Canthocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus affinis. The composition of species due to changes in salinity varied most in fifteen species (Acartia erythraea, A. ohtsukai, A. omorii, A. pacifica, A. tsuensis, Calanus plumchrus, C. sinicus,
Centrophages abdominalis, Paracalanus parvus, Tortanus forcipatus, Oithona sp., Oncaea sp., Canthocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus affinis, Harpacticus sp.) between 30.1‰ and 31.5‰, and varied least in six species (Acartia ohtsukai, Paracalanus parvus, Oithona sp., Oncaea sp.,
Canthocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus affinis) between 27.1‰ and 28.5‰. And the larva(copepodites, nauplii) emerged from all ranges of salinity concentration.
The highest diversity in the community of marine copepods around Yeosu port was observed
in water temperature ranging from 20.1 ℃ to 25.0 ℃, and salinity from 30.1‰ to 31.5‰. Also except for four species (Canthocamptus staphylinus, Corycaeus affinis, Oithona sp., Paracalanus parvus) which appeared in all seasons, the different species of marine copepods appeared in
      different seasons.
