This paper described the policy implementation of mental health prevention and promotion for the children of parents with a mental illness in Australia. Children and young people living in these families are more likely to experience mental health and wellbeing problems. We review the three projects on the view of health investment : COPMI, Healthy Start and Best Start.
First, The Children of Parents with a Mental Illness(COMPI) initiative is a component of the New Early Intervention Services for Parents, Children and Young People measure. Second, Healthy Start is a new national strategy to help young children of parents with learning difficulties. To build systems capacity across Australia to promote a positive and healthy start to life for young children of parents with learning difficulties. Third, Best Start is a prevention and early intervention project that aims to improve the health, development, learning and well-being of all Victorian children form pregnancy through transition to school.
The findings suggest that messages need to be reinforced policy implementation to retain mental health prevention and early intervention programs in Korea.
