During the past decade writing has been identified as a skill of critical importance. It has also finally been widely recognized as a very powerful learning tool and as a fundamentally social process. Therefore, writing instruction should not be neglected or misimplemented. For more effective writing instruction, we need to take a closer look at the concept of writing and the process of early writing development. This paper first considers the concept of writing and describes the process of writing development based on the research into emergent literacy. It draw on some principles of writing development. The derived principles of writing development supported that writing and other language skills are mutually supportive and connected at each step to learners` functional knowledge of the written language system and how it works. Thus, this indicated the advantage of authentic, natural, experiential and integrated model of writing instruction which focus es on aspects of content and form Teachers and curriculum researchers who work for kindergarteners should also take a closer look at the classroom and use these knowledge for their writing instruction. Thus, this paper describes the phenomena of writing instruction in our kindergarten classroom with both a critical and appreciative view. As the result of these descriptions, I suggest some guidelines for effective writing instructions.
