“Imagetelling” to study the image itself as an independent academic from the age of images is a remarkable discourse. Modern flooded images only stimulate and disappear people and do not exist in subjects to be deciphered any further. As in the case of “Gilbert Durand”, it is time to need “image reinstatement” to return to original characteristics of the image. In that sense, a good plan is “imagetelling”. The “imagetelling”, in the task of clarifying the mechanical relation between the material dimension and the ideal dimension, we first consider how the materiality of the image expresses and expresses the expression of the idea. It also includes tasks to recognize the image subjectively and to analyze the meaning of the image. Therefore, I have investigated the form of “Imagetelling” in the film with the theory of Roland Barthes. And specifically, I focused on the image of the movie “A Good Lawyer’s Wife”. The film conveys meaning by symbolizing the visual element and induces a metonymy interpretation to the audience with a protruding image (dull meaning or pure outline) breaking the systematic nature of the film. Also, the image of “cheating on family” speaks of sexual discourse in the Korean society, in which the power of men and women has been overthrown. Finally, “imagetelling” is completed by the active reflection of the reader. In the future, I hope that readers will be interested in the “imagetelling” discourse for the coming of positive image age.
