“종자”의 주체노선을 재현하는 ‘미덕’의 드라마, 『녀당원』(김보행, 1982) 연구 = A Study on Kim Bo-haeng's Woman Party Member(1982), a Drama of “Virtues” Representing the Juche-Oriented Line Embodied in “Seeds”

This article is intended to analyze Kim Bo-haeng's Woman Party Member(1982), which is considered a textbook for Partisanship training in the Juche Period. This is because it is possible to look into the emotional structure of the Juche Period contained in the “Seed” which aesthetically embodies the monolithic leadership system in this text. The “Seed Theory” of North Korean literature is a literary theory which emphasizes that only Suryong’s image in the monolithic leadership system ultimately embodies the Sollen of revolutionary history. Therefore, the North Korean novel in the Juche period, strictly controlled by “Seed”, is a literary form that justifies the monolithic leadership system.
The ultimate Sollen of the revolutionary history, embodied in the Suryong’s image of "Seed" is endlessly encouraging the “sub” Sollen embodied in communist people’s image. In revolutionary narratives such as Woman Party Member, the action of the strongly encouraged people builds the probability of the revolutionary history. In addition the structure of the revolutionary narrative with little “sudden happening” is to more strongly represent the probability of revolutionary history pursued by the North Korean political system.
The problem is that the content of the Sollen embodied in Suryong’s image is actually just a “declaration.” On the other hand, that of Sollen embodied in communist people’s image following Suryong, that is, the “virtues” that they have to endure all the pains and worries of the revolutionary struggle, is substantial enough to be vividly represented in the revolutionary narrative. In the Juche period, the substantial “virtues” of the people’s image make up for the empty “virtues” of Suryong’s image through superhuman efforts. In particular, the efforts of North Korean women to endure the oppression of the patriarchy at the same time are extreme. This article will contemplate the irony of the revolutionary history of the Juche Period, that is, the ironic deep structure of “Seed” through the representation of Woman Party Member, which actually dramatizes the “virtues” of the people’s image.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글은 주체시대 당성 단련의 교과서로 여겨지는 김보행의 녀당원(1982)을 분석하려는 것이다. 이를 통해 유일지도체계를 심미적으로 체현하는 “종자”에 내포된 주체시대의 감정구조를 들여다볼 수 있기 때문이다. 북한문학의 “종자론”은 결국 유일지도체계 수령형상이 혁명역사의 당위를 궁극적으로 체현한다는 점을 역설한 문학론이다. 그러므로 “종자”가 통어하는 주체시대의 북한소설은 유일지도체계를 정당화하는 문학적 형상이다.
수령형상의 “종자”가 체현하는 혁명역사의 궁극적인 당위는 이의 ‘아류’인 인민형상이 체현하는 당위를 끝없이 고무한다. 녀당원과 같은 혁명서사에서는 이렇게 고무되는 인민형상이 불굴의 의지로 혁명투쟁을 하는 행동이 강고한 혁명역사의 개연성을 구현할 수 있다. 또한 ‘돌발사’가 드문 혁명서사의 구조는 북한체제가 추구하는 혁명역사의 개연성을 한층 강고하게 재현하는 것이다.
문제는 수령형상이 체현하는 당위의 내용이 사실상 ‘선언’에 불과하다는 데 있다. 반면에 이를 따르는 인민형상이 체현하는 혁명역사의 당위, 즉 그들이 혁명투쟁의 온갖 고통과 심려를 감내해야만 하는 ‘미덕’은 혁명서사에서 핍진하게 재현될 만큼 실질적인 것이다. 주체시대는 인민형상의 실질적인 ‘미덕’이 수령형상의 공소한 ‘미덕’을 초인간적인 노력으로 벌충하는 모습이다. 특히 가부장제의 억압을 동시에 감내해야 하는 북한 여성의 노력은 가장 극한의 노력이다. 이 글은 결국 인민형상의 ‘미덕’을 서사화하는 녀당원의 재현을 통해 이러한 주체시대 혁명역사의 아이러니, 즉 “종자”의 아이러니한 심층구조를 숙고하게 할 것이다.
