다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Our society is becoming more diverse. The social diversity newly pose old problems on the knowledge construction. Social constructivist says that knowledge is socially constructed. Knowledge as social construction raises two questions of our school education ; One is for our students how to present the diverse perspectives in our society, and the other is how to help to understand the knowledge construction. In this study I suggested multicultural literacy education using multicultural literature as a effective educational strategy for students to appreciate and understand the social diversity in our classroom. Many researchers have reported the effects of multicultural literature-based literacy education in many aspects : Increasing minority group students` self-esteem as well as academic achievements and promoting all students` appreciation and respect for the values and contributions of diverse cultures. But merely using multicultural literature is not sufficient. More important is to use it in multiculturl ways. And how to select right multicultural literature and how to help for teacher to implement multicultural education in their classroom are also remain problems.
