청소년과 부모가 지각한 행복과 행복의 조건 및 불행에 대한 토착심리 분석 = Factors that Influence Happiness and Unhappiness among Adolescents and Their Parents: Indigenous Psychological Analysis

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that influence happiness and unhappiness among adolescents and their parents using indigenous psychological analysis. A total of 2,955 respondents, consisting of 985 adolescents (elementary school student=269, middle school student=270, high school student=211, and university student=235), and 1,970 parents (father=985, mother=985) completed the questionnaire developed by the first two researchers. The results are as follows. First, adolescents reported being most happy when there were harmony in the family, followed by when they were engaged in leisure activities, when they had good interpersonal relationships, and when they were successful in achieving their personal goals. As for parents, they reported being most happy after giving birth to their children and seeing them grow, followed by when they are healthy. Second, as for the question of factors that influence happiness, both adolescents and their parents reported that they needed to self-regulate. This was followed by studying hard and maintaining good relationships for adolescents and maintaining harmonious family and health for parents. Third, as for the basis of happiness, both adolescents and their parents reported that they needed to maintain harmonious family. This was followed by self-regulation, emotional security, and good relationships for adolescents and health and self-regulation for parents. Fourth, both adolescents and their parents reported that they were most unhappy when there was conflict in the family. This was followed by problems in relationships and failing to achieve their personal goals for adolescents and having health and financial problems for parents. These results indicate that harmony in the family is the most important factor influencing happiness among Koreans, followed by self-regulation and maintaining good relationships. In addition, adolescents needed to do well academically and adults needed to maintain good health and finances.
