이상(李箱) 시에서 나타난 가족 갈등과 낙원의 논리

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이상의 시는 모더니즘이 강조하는 문학의 자율성을 구현한 것으로 흔히 다루어졌다. 현실과는 무관한 지점에서 자율적 스타일을 만들기 위한 시도로 생각되었던 것이다. 그러나 그의 시를 면밀하게 살펴보면 결코 자율적 세계의 구축이 아닌, 끊임없는 현실에의 직시와 이에 대한 담론화를 지향함을 알 수 있다. 이상 시의 난해성은 현실과 무관해지려는 의도 때문이 아니라 오히려 그가 처한 현실의 복잡성에 기인한다. 그는 식민지 현실을 낯설게 이야기했으며, 그것을 통해 ‘최저(最低)’의 수준에 놓여 있는 낙원을 현실의 가시적 수준으로까지 끌어 올리기를 염원했다.
본고는 ‘가족’을 둘러싼 기존 담론의 결을 보여주고, 더 나아가 ‘새로운 공동체’로서의 ‘커뮤니티’를 구상 및 제안하는 데 이상의 시를 경유하고자 한다. 이상의 시는 ‘스타일’의 창조를 통한 공간 만들기, 즉 변화하는 사회상의 포착 및 공론화를 위한 텍스트 차원의 대응이기 때문이다. 그의 문학은 19세기의 ‘전통적’ 가치와 20세기의 ‘변화하는’ 가치 사이에 놓여 있음을 의식하는 데서, 그리고 ‘무엇을 말할 것인가’에서 ‘어떻게 말할 것인가’로 전환되는 데서 비롯된다. 이러한 이상 문학의 근간에는 ‘가족’의 문제가 깔려 있다. 그의 시는 ‘어떻게 가족으로부터 벗어나 새로운 가족, 다시 말해 커뮤니티를 만들 수 있을까’에 대한 대응이라는 것이 본 연구의 전제다. 따라서 본고는 그의 시의 근간에 기존의 가족과 개인, 개인과 세계의 관계를 거쳐 ‘낙원’의 가능성을 타진하는 것이 그의 문학지도라는 전제로, 이 지도를 읽어내는 작업이 지금 우리가 당면한 변화의 국면을 파악하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 생각한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Lee Sang’s poems were often treated as embodying the autonomy of literature emphasized by modernism. It was thought to be an attempt to create an autonomous style from an unrelated point in reality. However, if we look closely at his poems, we can see that he aims not only to build an autonomous world but also to face the endless reality and to stimulate discourse about it. Lee Sang’s intricacy of his poems is not due to his intention to be irrelevant to reality, but rather to signal the complexity of his reality. He talked about the unfamiliarity of colonial reality, and he hoped to bring paradise at the ‘lowest’ level to tangible reality through such writing methods.
This paper shows the result of the existing discourse surrounding ‘family’. Furthermore, through Lee Sang’s poem, his thoughts about a ‘new community’ will be observed. This is because Lee Sang’s poems are a space created through the creation of ‘style’, that is, textual correspondence for capturing and publicizing the changing social situation. His literature stems from a sense of being spanned between the ‘traditional’ values of the 19th century and the ‘changing’ values of the 20th century, and from the transition from ‘what to say’ to ‘how to say’. The foundation of Lee Sang’s literature lies with the problem of ‘family’. The premise of this study is that his poem is a response to ‘how can we get away from family and create a new family, that is, a community?’ Therefore, this paper is based on the premise that his literary guidance is to explore the possibility of ‘paradise’ through existing family, individuality, and the relationship betwixt the individual and world based on his poems. Reading this ‘map’, will help to identify the phases of change currently being experienced.
