百濟 火葬墓에 대한 考察 = A Study on Paekche's Crematorial Tombs

A crematorial custom originated in India has been spreaded over Korean peninsula and Japan, passing through China. Paekche's crematorial tombs, considered in this paper, are also concerned with a permeation of the doctrinal content of Buddhism.
Paekche's crematorial tombs including the funeral urns are seldom excavated and reported. Though the whole funeral urns discovered at Puyo region have been treated as Paekche's one, there are many Unified Silla's one actually in those. In this paper, it is considered the meaning what a crematorial tomb has in the history of Paekche's funeral system, based on a classification and chronology of the funeral urns. As a result, Paekche's crematorial tombs, appeared at Sabi period regularly, have a single urn type and a single bowl type, and are distributed in and around Puyo region a little way of the graveyard composed of the stone chamber tombs.
The deceased of Paekche's crematorial tombs would have been priests in case of separated burials, and various possibility could have been considered in case of additional burial at a stone chamber tombs. It is not considered that Paekche's crematorial tombs got popular, because of such a few quantity. But it is the funeral system appearing just before the fall of a nation of Paekche, and it could be possible to be principal kind of funeral style if Paekche was continue to exist.
