남명 사상의 음악교육 방법론적 접근 = A Methodological Approach to Music Education of Nammyeong’s Thought

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 남명의 경의 사상을 음악교육의 방법론적 접근을 시도한 것이다. 남명 사상은 안으로 마음을 밝히는 경(敬)과 밖으로 행동을 결단하는 의(義), 즉‘경의(敬義)’로 요약된다. 그런 만큼, 남명 사상은 외부의 대상보다는 인간의 마음을 기준으로 삼는 세계관으로서 형이상학적인 사변보다는 인간 삶에서 구체화할 수 있는 실천을 중시하였다. 남명은 경의 이해를 ｢학기도｣와 ｢신명사도｣의 도식화하며 마음의 수양을 정진하였고, ‘경의검’이라는 칼과 ‘성성자’라는 방울로써 경의 마음을 일깨우고 의의 실천을 고양하였다. 이러한 남명 사상은 음악교육 방법론적으로, ‘마음 중심의 인간다움의 음악교육’, ‘직관적 통찰의 음악교육’, ‘호연지기의 음악교육’ 등을 제안한다. 이는 심미적 경험이라는 음악교육의 본연적 목적과 인간다운 인간으로의 성장이라는 도구적 목적을 동시에 충족시킬 뿐 아니라, 음악교육이 아름다운 마음 고양, 도덕적 판단과 행동, 그리고 전인적 건전한 사회인으로의 성장에 충분히 공헌할 수 있음을 보여준다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study attempted a methodological approach of music education to the thought of Nammyeong. Nammyeong’s thought is summarized ‘gyeong-eui(敬義)’ as ‘gyeong’ that reveals the mind inward and ‘eui’ that decides to act outside. As such, Nammyeong’s thought emphasized the practice that can be embodied in human life rather than metaphysical speculations as a worldview that is based on the human mind rather than external objects. Nammyeong practiced cultivating the mind by schematizing the understanding of gyeongeui into a diagram of ‘hakgido(學記圖)’ and ‘shinmyeongsado(神明舍圖)’, awakening the mind of honor and enhancing the practice of significance with the sword called ‘gyeongeuigeom(敬義劒)’ and the drop called ‘seong-seong(惺惺)’. This Nammyeong thought proposes ‘music education of humanity centered on the heart’, ‘music education of intuitive insight’, and ‘music education of ‘hoyeonjigi(浩然之氣)’’. This not only satisfies the natural purpose of music education of aesthetic experience and the instrumental purpose of human growth, but also shows that music education can sufficiently contribute to beautiful mind enhancement, moral judgment and behavior, and growth into a whole healthy society.
