부모의 양육행동과 후기 청소년의 심리적 분리와의 관계 = The Relationship between Parenting Behavior and Psychological Separation of Late Adolescents

This study was designed to investigate the influence of parenting behaviors on psychological separation of late adolescents. Data from 368(male, 187; female, 181) college students were analyzed using a canonical correlation analysis by gender. The results of this study were as follows: First, parenting behaviors were largely significantly related to psychological separation of college students. Second, for men, the relationship between parenting behavior and psychological separation was not different according to parents' gender; for women, relationship between parenting behavior and psychological separation was somewhat different according to parents' gender. Third, parenting behaviors can be divided into factors relating to conflictual independence and attitudinal independence and factors relating to functional and emotional independence. Especially conflictual independence was influenced by parent behavior. Generally speaking, for father, affection, reasoning and neglect and for mother, affection, neglect and overinvolving were the most influential parenting behaviors in predicting conflictual separation of late adolescents although somewhat differences exist according to gender. The implications of this study for theory and practice were discussed. Finally, suggestions for future research were made with limitations.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 부모의 양육행동이 후기 청소년 자녀의 심리적 분리에 미치는 영향을 탐색하는 것이었다. 이를 위하여 대학생 368명(남학생, 187; 여학생, 181)을 대상으로 부모 양육행동검사 및 심리적 분리검사 자료를 수집하였으며, 정준상관분석을 이용하여 부모(2)×자녀(2)에 따라 양육행동 변인군(8개 변인)과 심리적 분리 변인군(4개 변인)간의 구조적 분석을 수행하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 부모의 양육행동은 대학생 자녀의 심리적 분리와 밀접한 관련이 있으며 유의한 영향 관계로 나타났다. 둘째, 부와 모의 양육행동이 자녀의 심리적 분리에 미치는 영향은 남자 자녀의 경우는 차이가 없었으나, 여자 자녀의 경우는 부와 모에 따라 부분적인 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 부모의 양육행동은 자녀의 갈등적태도적 독립에 영향을 미치는 양육행동변인과 기능적정서적 독립에 영향을 미치는 양육행동변인으로 양분할 수 있었다. 넷째, 부모의 양육행동은 특히 자녀의 갈등적 독립에 많은 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났으며, 부의 경우 대체로 애정, 합리적 설명 및 방치 행동이, 그리고 모의 경우 자녀의 성별에 따라 차이가 있긴 하나 대체로 애정, 방치 및 과잉간섭 행동이 관계하였다. 끝으로 연구 결과의 의미를 이론적실제적 측면에서의 논의하였고 결론 및 본 연구의 제한점과 후속연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.
