The purpose of this study was to examine whether there was any collaborative relationship between schools and local social institutions in association with lifelong education and to seek workable reform measures. The subjects in this study were people concerned in 420 elementary and secondary schools in the city of Incheon that offered lifelong education programs. After a survey was conducted, the answer sheets from 278 schools were gathered and analyzed with SPSS VeL 14.0 program to find out the relationship between them and local social organizations.
As a result, it's found that there were few cooperative networks between the schools and local social organs. The reason was that the unique characteristics of the schools made them find it unnecessary to join forces with local social institutions.
The greatest problem with networking between the two was that it's not easy to manage lifelong education programs flexibly at a different time. The schools located in different regions faced statistically significantly different difficulties in terms of collaboration with local communities and accounting management, and inadequate relevant infrastructure and a poor awareness of the necessity of collaboration between the two made a statistically significant difference to their troubles as well. Whether they managed lifelong education programs in a flexible manner was statistically significantly different according to the grade of school.
There was no statistically significant difference in the networking model of lifelong education programs among the schools located in different areas since there wasn't yet any established model. But the grade of school made a statistically significant difference to that.
