This paper reveals that one of the existing major studies on the stature of male adults in colonial Korea has made serious mistakes in the process of interpretation and manipulation of the original data. The mistakes are as follows. First, the characteristics of the entire data, including personal information, were not recognized properly. Second, cases of misreading were present because of illegibility. Third, no treatment was performed regarding the measurement errors. Fourth, the problem of double (or multiple) counting occurred systematically. Fifth, identification of nationality and gender was not performed. Sixth, the investigation of the year of birth and age was insufficient. This paper corrects all these mistakes and suggests concrete alternatives to overcome and improve the erroneous study. Analysis showed that all descriptive statistics in the precious study and completely unreliable. Any output is unreliable if it resulted from inadequate input. All the hypotheses in the previous study should be retracted, and complete reexamination (including a new type of regression) is required.
