The Credit Card Market of South Korea shows a record growth since 1980's, and the annual using credit card amounts to 225 trillion. Comparing using credit card and GNI, the former attains to 76% of the latter. It is clear that credit card takes place of cash as a payment instrument. But it is an analytical problem to make sure of their relations. So this thesis has the object to analyze the effects of using credit card on the demand of currency and deposit. In this thesis, currency and deposit are used for independent variables, and amount of using credit card, GNI(Gross National Income) and corporate bonds yield are dependent variables. Moreover, Phillips-Perron unit-root test and OLS(Ordinary Least Squares) are used for analytical methods. Using credit card influences (-) effect on the demand of currency, and (+) effect on deposit. This is the same conclusion of Akhand-Milbourne model and the study of Russell.

    • Political Risks and the Corporate Financial Assets

      RANK : 231947

Financial Assets , Safe and Risky Financial Assets , Corporate Cash Holdings, Firm-level Political Risks This study investigates the impact of firm-level political risks on corporate financial asset allocation decisions, focusing on the distinction between safe and risky financial assets. Utilizing a novel measure of firm-level political risk developed by Hassan et al. (2019) and hand-collected data of corporate financial asset, I identify that political risks significantly influence financial investment, leading firms to increase safe financial assets, such as cash and U.S. Treasury securities, while reducing investments in risky financial assets, including corporate debt and equity. The findings validate the precautionary motive for holding liquid assets under uncertainty and extend the formal model of financial allocation by Duchin et al. (2017). To address endogeneity concerns, a two-stage least squares (2SLS) approach with the partisan conflict index as an instrumental variable confirms the robustness of the results. Additional analyses reveal that financially constrained and distressed firms exhibit stronger tendencies to prioritize safe assets. This research contributes to the literature on corporate policies by highlighting the nuanced effects of political risks on financial asset allocation and proposes avenues for future exploration into the determinants of risky asset investments.
