        Introduction The church must grow more and more but the growth of the church must include spiritual maturation and numerical increase. The purpose of this thesis is to show the relation between three factors: first, biblical spirituality; second, spiritual leadership, and third, a spiritually growing church through biblical spirituality and spiritual leadership. Literature Review of Spirituality Chapter two focused on biblical spirituality and integrative Spirituality development because spirituality has two aspects. First we examined general spirituality, and saw that Christianity spirituality is general spirituality, involving many ideas and philosophical thinking, but general spirituality can not produce a mature person. Christianity spirituality is the same as biblical spirituality and biblical spirituality means integrative spirituality. Integrative spirituality is a process of living a life of growing self toward Christlikeness in a biblical relationship with God and people Literature Review of Spiritual Leadership This chapter focused on the biblical leadership and the biblical pastor. The pastor modeling biblical leadership must always pray be full of the Word of God, be pious, and empathetic for the biblical leader's ultimate purpose, or the final goal of the leader's development, is Christ himself. Christ is the eternal leader and the leadership of the church in the twenty-first century needs pastors who demonstrate biblical leadership and biblical spirituality. Literature Review of Growing Churches The church must growing by God's means but the growth of church has two points of view: the growth of the and the maturation of the church. The growth and maturation of the church are related to biblical spirituality and biblical leadership. This study focuses on three major areas: spirituality, leadership, and the growth of the church In biblical theory, these three major areas are inter lelated. The spiritual growth of the church cannot be discussed without emphasizing the concept of spirituality and leadership. so we find that the growth of the church though spirituality and leadership is biblical growth.

      • 영성교육의 효과에 대한 연구 : 한국 기독교 대학의 사례를 중심으로

        This study attempted to present the concept and nature of Christian spirituality by which an experimental study was conducted. Even though many spirituality scholars have been trying to define Christian spirituality in a variety of aspects, it is hard to find some theories or formulas which are helpful for promoting spirituality and for evaluating the effectiveness. However, the researcher had a chance to do experimental study on spirituality development, finding a spirituality formula, S=RGP1P2E, which is involving comprehensive concepts and contents. The researcher, therefore, conducted an experimental study on spirituality development based on the formula, taking the students at D University in Busan, South Korea, where the researcher teaches, as the subject of study. Spiritual education was practiced in the two control groups, both of which were resulting in quite different scores between before and after the tests. Therefore, it is proper to hold that this study lays out the foundation of an effective spiritual education at Christian university in South Korea. The following chapter after the introduction discussed the nature of spiritualities in general, focusing on Christian spirituality, concluding that the core of Christian spirituality is other-centeredness, the opposite of self-centeredness. The next chapter presented the purpose and necessity of spiritual education, and the concepts, the factors, and the domains of spirituality development. The next chapter pinpointed the issue of the significance of school education, recognizing its crisis, looking forward to having an effective spiritual education at Christian university. The last chapter presented the effectiveness of spiritual education, dealing with the findings shown in the experimental study.

        The purpose of this study is to test the validity of the Spirituality Quotient (SQ), developed by Kwon Tack-Joe, using the Spirituality Development Scale (SDS). The SDS is designed to disclose people's ranking according to a Spirituality Quotient. The SDS consists of forty items divided into subscales, the Relationship with God Scale (RG) and the Relationship with People Scale (RP). Each sub scale has twenty items. After a pilot study, the final set of items was administered to 280 college students attending universities and churches in Korea. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses show that the SDS has two clearly demarked subscales, and each of the RG and RP, comprise twenty items respectively. Convergent and discriminant validity are confirmed. The Cronbach α coefficients for internal consistency of the SDS, RG, and RP are high enough, that is .9155, .8749, and .9377, respectively. Item analyses with the graded response model ware conducted, with results showing that, the forty items have appropriate item discrimination indexes which are adequate in terms of item rating categories.

        This world we live can be represented as Post-modernism. Post-modernism of this world is reflected in the culture and the culture is a mirror of time. Therefore, this world is so-called “Cultural Era”. Now, culture has become a Code representing the lifestyle and trend of thought of the era. As a matter of course, young generation plays a role as a main stream of culture. Accordingly, when we meet the youth, we understand the generation. In addition, when we give attention to the culture, we may acknowledge the lifestyle and ideas. So, without proper knowledge of young generation, youth ministry is hardly expected to be performed effectively. In the culture there are always both good & evil in earthly cultural element. Therefore, church should be equipped with profound wisdom to distinguish and judge the culture rationally. Furthermore, the church must have irresistible power to change the secularized culture of this world by mean of Christian culture and spirituality-Incarnation culture and spirituality. In that meaning, culture is indispensable sword of youth ministry. On the other hand, spirituality should be the core of this revolution. As Richard Niebuhr said, nothing is not belonged to GOD, so when we make change this world with divine spirituality of Jesus Christ and apply it to the youth culture, young men in the earth could establish their own righteous worldview with which they could distinguish good and evil in cultural element. I am sure that spirituality and culture will be the focus of next generation, and the reestablished strategy founded on Spirituality of Christlikeness(Disciple Training) will be crucial approach to Youth Ministry.

      • 평신도의 영성훈련을 통한 교회성장연구

        The Korean church has made great growth and development unprecedented in the history of the protestant Christianity. Turning in 1990s, however, it has stopped its growth and the stagnation is too serious to fail to recognize it. Nevertheless, new churches are being pioneered continuously. However, the trend of contemporary people who avoid planting churches and environmental and financial problems are working as restrictive factors in the growth of churches. Then what should be dealt with importantly in order for churches to overcome such environmental factors and develop? As a pastor of a planting church, the author believes the most important thing is spirituality. In general spirituality means a certain attitude or mentality causing human acts and a specific religious and ethical value. Spirituality in the sense of Christianity emphasizes the relationship between 'me' and God in front of God. A common point of growing churches is that they minister through spiritual training. This is a critical factor for the growth and development of a church not to mention its survival. Spiritual training is wholistic training that helps trainees to imitate the life of Jesus Christ. It is systematic training to help trainees not only to confess Jesus Christ as their Lord but also to practice Jesus' life as if Jesus himself moves and lives. As spiritual training programs, this study dealt with the church growth through life training, spiritual experienced training, the training on small group, faith training, working training and leader training, but not covered practical life in the more active aspect of spirituality. What to be stressed as much as laity's spiritual training is spiritual training for the pastor. In order for the pastor to be able to teach believers, the son of God, using God's Word and all kinds of good methods, he must be spiritually disciplined first. When believers are restored as wholistic persons through spiritual training, the Korean church will keep growing.
