Isocratic separation of cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP level in serum is established by means of H.P.L.C. This method Is applicated for the measurement of cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP level in human serum with liver disease patients (hepatitis: 10, liver cirrhosis: 10, hepatoma:10) and the normal (11). The obtained results are summerized as follows: 1. In the normal serum, cyclic GMP/cyclic AMP ratios have approximately 1:2 2. Cyclic AMP and cyclic GMP level in hepatitis are equal to and/or tend to reduce compairing with the normal. 3. In serum of patients with liver cirrhosis and hepatoma, cyclic AMP level are similar to the normal level and/or tend to decrease. 4. In serum of patients with liver cirrhosis and hepatoma, cyclic AMP level is increased remarkedly, and the tendency of cyclic GMP/cylic AMP ratios show hepatoma > liver cirrhosis > the normal (>=) hepatitis. 5. In serum of patients with liver cirrhosis and hepatoma, cyclic GMP Level is elevated. The reason is not clear, although possible contributory factors may be compensatory proliferative changes in liver, decreased hepatic uptake of cyclic nucleotide metabolism. 6. Appearently increasing cyclic GMP level in the patients with hepatoma suggests that it is the useful tool on diagnosis of hepatoma.

For the purpose of basic study on transportation and penetration into cytoplasmic membrane, and on interaction of enzymic system, metal and active biological substances, metal [Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Cd(II), Mn(II) and Fe(II)] coordination compounds of γ-Aminobutyric acid (GABA), which act inhibitory neurotransmitter in vivo, were studied on acid dissociation constant, stability constant, thermal stability and identification of functional radicals cheated with metal by means of I. R. spectroscopy, differential thermal analysis and Bjerrum's method. The obtained results are summarized as follows: 1. The acid dissociation constant of GABA in aqueous solution (ionic strength; 0.02) was found to be 2.57×10^(-5) at 25℃. 2. GABA has formed Cu(II) and Fe(II) coordination compounds, and from data calculated P^([A-]) and n ̄, the stability constants logk_(2), logk_(3), are as follows: Cu(II): 2.57, 2.85 Fe(II): 2.58, 2.80 3. From detailed assignments of Infrared spectra of metal coordination compounds, amino acid and carboxyl groups of GABA are assumed to participate in complex formation. 4. According to thermograms of differential thermal analysis, metal coordination compounds have been shown Fe(II) > Cu(II) in thermal stability. 5. Metal/GABA coordination ratio have been assumed approximately 1:3.
