This study is to investigate the effect of C factor errors on the analysis of water distribution systems. For this purpose, an artificial distribution network and a real distribution network were selected as the study networks. Results are as follows. 1. The C factor of a pipe which has small velocity didn't give significant effect on the analysis of a water distribution system. 2. The effect of decreased value of C factors give more influence on the analysis of water distribution systems than that of the increased values. 3. For the C factor calibration, errors of the residual water heads as well as those of the head losses should be considered together. 4. In the analysis of water distribution systems, changes of C factors can give influences only on the nodes which locate behind the pipe. Therefore, this characteristics should be considered in the selection of nodes for the measurement of water heads.

This study is to investigate the effect on the mount of domestic water use by the water pressure and the number of a family for the each house. Tow apartment sites which had elevated water tanks on the roof were selected as the reserch area. Tow techniques such as Analysis of Variance(ANOVA) and Analysis of Correlation were used for the analysis.

Determining sizes and the locations of reservoirs in the water distribution system(WDS) with multi-reservoirs is much difficult than that with single reservoir. The extended period simulation(EPS) models provide more comprehensive analysis of water distribution systems than the steady-state models can do. Therefore, EPS models should be applied to the WDS with multi-reservoirs. This study is to investigate the variations of required reservoir sizes and residual nodal pressures according to reservoir locations. In this study, EPS was applied to analyze an artificial and a real WDS under several water demand patterns. As a result, it was found that water demand patterns make no significant differences in the determining of the reservoir size, if they have similar peaking factors. And the variations of the peaking factor should be carefully checked in the design and the analysis of the WDS with multi-reservoirs, because the peaking factor itself will affect the minimum allowable sizes of reservoirs in those systems.

In this study, the errors caused by improper application of equivalent pipe method on analysis of network were investigated. Especially, the errors related to selection of C-coefficients, pipe lengths, pipe diameters and flow rates were focused. To reduce errors caused by applying equivalent pipe method in network analysis, both C-coefficient of each parallel pipe and large flow rate variation in the parallel pipes between connected junctions should be considered. Results of this study are as follows. When the different C-coefficients of each parallel pipe was not considered, the application of equivalent pipe method caused 47.84% error in headloss and 24.75% error in pipe flow in model network. Also, When large flow rate variation existed in the parallel pipes between connected junctions, equivalent pipe method caused 51.61% error in headloss.
