Settlement environmental problems caused by economic profit-oriented development policies of every kind have been accelerating urbanization as well as expansion of environmental pollution. Also, this development policies brought forth depopulation of rural areas as well as urban congestion. Thus development and settlement problems are inter-woven. Housing policy of Korea so far used to be following the line of quantitative supply. Yet the values of Korean people vis-a-vis housing is changing toward qualitative choice. Conclusionally, in this study, a characteristic of settlement environment is analyzed in attribute of community welfare.

자바/소켓을 이용한 DOS-WEPP(Water Erosion Prediction Project)의 인터넷 활용모형

Computer simulation model has become a useful tool for the inventory, management and evalu-ation on resources in Agriculture. Though the release of system-specific database to end-users may give us ques-tions in security, stability, cenristencr, and accuracy of database. Enormous efforts will be also asked for srstem dove]opers to upgrade either model or database. Employing client-server model with GUI capability will help to overcome thrse prnblems in the extended use of simHlation models in Agriculture. The information exchange using Web technology is one of the promising way under distributed computing environments. In this study, a prototype of Iveb interface was introduced for a stand-alone simu!lation model, WEPP by USDA-ARS that is simulating soil erosion and nutrient dynamics above soil surface in a watershed. The clien!-side interface was implemented by JAVA applet, while the server-side JAVA application with minimal modifications on the original stand-alone executables and input Hles. It will open a new bridge to three-tier applications under distributed computing environment in the fHture for existing stand-alone simulation models, particularly for those require high-speed network rornrnunirations.
