        With beginning of 20 century, the modern art has been changed to abstract art from realism art which had been exsiting fo over thousand years. The industrial society and rapid developing of science made exsiting value of society to be collapsed and demanded new value and oder. In these conditions, the modern art was made a lot of thoughts' branches for finding meaning of 'truth' Also, in abstract world that doesn't have the answers, the thoughts about avant-garde art was dialectic and it caused new field of art to be born. These changes happened rapidly for last one century, through two world wars which was a chance to divide two countries, Europe that led existing art and powerful country, Americal Thous, these art of thoughts' branches released rapidly in multi-structured society. Especially, Cubisme art, the starting point of modern art suggested revolutionary idea, truth denial and it flew to abstract art. Following appearance of Collage method and Object theory made he genres of art to be collapsed and showed possibility about compound art. Through Dadaisme, half completed art suggested surrealsim world with critical rationary winning and opened the wide way to abstract art. Also the environmental thoughts which were started from Italian Futurisimo was combined with Constructivism and it brought foundation of Kinetic theory. When it combined with spacilisme, it magnified the meaning of traditional sculpture. The late period of modern society, after 1945, U.S.A. started leading most fields of art. Automatisme suggested Action painting or Informal as abstract, for Abstract Expressionism and abstract Art's reaction to try to be closed to people. Pop Art, over production and over consumption's mechanical world's waste materials for Junk Art, to try to find pure and clean in abstract world for Happening, Performances, Events, Earth Art, Environmental Art, Kinetic Art, Optical Art, using technology for Video Art, Computer Art, Light Art, Laser Art and etc. In appearance, destroying, combining, dividing which showed in these tons of art thoughts' branches, the modern art has been developed pure sprite of art. However, it couldn't be centre of our society and people closed their mind from art. And the discoveries of logic by the artists situated in collapsing stage because of Televison culture. This thesis based this point of view and analysed the starting and logic background of the modern art to show special characteristics about art and investigate the modern art's dialectician and method of avant-garde art to find the problems of the modern art. Finally, this thesis has a purpose to think about the possibility of the future art. Through analysis about modern art with above problems and concerns this thesis comes to the following conclusions 1. The modern art started from realism collapsing and winning of critical rationality. 2. The art situation which is appeared in the modern art, is based on objectivity and demands subjective creation logic with empathy. 3. By having Collage method and Object theory, the genre of art was collapsed in early period of modern and appearance of geometrical abstract art suggested functionalism and rationalism for architecture and design. The abstractical and uncritical unconsious world which was opened the way to the world of abstract art. 4. In late period of modern art, there were abstractical Action painting and Action Collage which was based on critical surrealism and environment for Informal. Also, by the movement of abstraction, the public art was dialectic as Object's Assemablage and through this Assemablage, the art was tried to be close to the environment, technology and theory of Kinetic Art made new field of art, Technology Art. The other hand, the Environmental Art and Earth Art which show hugement, suggested changes for limited space and the meaning of time. During one century, the changes were processed for finding true answer, however today's art becomes extinct because of big time differences and less humanity, between the logic that was discovered by the artists and public receptivity. For solving about these problems, 5. Today's art doesn't need just sense of sight but including senses of nosie, smell, thouch and empathy that are elements for image of art. 6. The Technology which is alive humanity in, would be suggested. 7. Also, new field of art which the audience should join in and feel about, would be needed. In conclusion, the art of 21 century has to show "truth of facts"which can live with people, rather than just the world of "truth".

      • 부활의 조형 : 산업 오브제와 고철에 의한 조각작품 제작 연구 A Study on Sculpture Working with Industrial Objects and Junk

        We may call sculpture made with industrial objects and junk "visually resurrecting art", for the industrial object obtains a kind of artistic life through the thought and design of the sculptor, and junk is used as the working material of the arist. Historically, at the beginning of the 20th century, Cubism, Futurism, Dadaism, and Surrealism had presented many examples of Object art. Since 1960, Nouveau-Real-ism and Neo-Dada have activated the use of industrial junk. With this background and tradition of object art, I have tried, in my sculptures, to represent environments, social conditions, and my Christian faith. There are four categories of tendency in my works from 1978 to 1992 as fllows: 1) a description of visual contrast or harmony between civilization and nature. 2) a visual trace of demonstration and resistance against the prevalent injustice and inequality in the socio-political sphere. 3) a visual embodiment of Christianity with symbol and world view. 4) an attempt towards the integration of the above three categories. The latest integrative works especially invlove the transforming vision on culture based upon the reformed Christian world view. With this transforming vison, my negative and resistant views on the civilized environments and social structure in my former works could probably be changed into a positive and reformative view revealed in my recent works.

      • 轉寫捺染의 産業的 應用

        The purpose of this study is to research the significance and technical method of transferring printing which is recently observing its worldwide improvement and progress. At the same time, this study is focused in describing the recent trends and prospect of transferring printing. Up to now, the technical method of this transferring printing has been used even on works of art, but this is the first attempt to apply offset transferring printing on the industry for actual manufacturing and production. This attempt was made aimed at contributing to the function and daily life, which is the ultimate purpose of Fine Arts. The methods for this purpose are:First, the mass-production of the faaric works of art. Secobd the usage of offset transferring printing with high precision appropriate for the reproduction of the artistic quality as it is. As a result, several important points were found as follows:First, the advantages of transferring printing are that it causes less atmospheric pollution with non-production of waste water by dyeing or printing, and it has shortened printing time and unnecessity of afterward treatment. Second, the disadvantages of transferring pringing are confined to synthetic fabrics, for example, polyster, and this transferring printing has less water absorption and s weaker in its durability compared with other general printing methods. Additional disadvantage of this printing is that dyestuffs are only confined to the one with sublimation. Third the offset transferring prnting is characterized by the facts that the reproduction of thick and delicate photo tone is possible up to 90%, and gradation of colors, Which is impossible in other printing process, is possible, and the capability to produce color picture effect can be maximized which can lead to mass production of works of arts. Fourth, While applying the transferring printing, for its stability, sublimation speed of mixed dyestuffs must be same and color varies in accordance with the difference in temperature while transferring, the difference in the thickness of ink while offset printing and the frquency of transferring printing. Fifth, Handle treatment and Relax treatment are used to prevent the hardening of the fabrics after transferring printing. By doing so, the softness of the fabrics and smooth touch can be obtained. In conclusion, in the light of the facts described so far above, it may be possible that this offset transferring printing can be used on both the fabric works of art and the painting works. in addition, by using the offset transferring printing ink, various production of transferring printing may also be possible. Finally. these all, sooner or later, will contribute much to the society of Fine Arts.

      • 都市 空問과 環境 造形物에 關한 硏究

        In the beginning of the 20th century, the sculpture seperated from architecture distinctly appeared as the name of 'environment-sculpture'. The abstract movement of the sculpture and the variation of the location in sculpture were started. Seperated from closed space. and going through combining with natural space and combining with architecture in urban space the sculpture with architecture occupied a great part of the artificial surroundings up to modern times and became an important essential element which purified the man's mental world. Sculpture including the pure art changed artificial environment into natural one and it was planned and create as the harmonious public space for human. Environment-sculpture is important in recovering the lost humanity especially in the straight-lineal city space full of high buildings. In the beginning of the 1980's the environment-sculpture appeared in the process of redeveloping cities including Seoul in Korea. Soon, it produced the artistic atmosphere for all the general and beautifying monotonous public space. Goals This study concerns the environmental sculpture in the urban space, and aims to transform the bleak and harsh city area to an active, meaningful setting by bringing together building structures, environmental sculptures and surrounding settings as a whole 1. Enhance quality of urban exterior environment by introducing the concept of 'sense of place' 2. Propose directions in designing environmental sculpture and improve 'sense of place in urban exterior environment. Extent and Method of approach 1. The characteristics of urban space is observed and the concept of environment and environmental design is defined. After that, the meaning of the environmental plastic art as the environmental design and its function in the urban space are explained. Therefore, we can investigate the characteristics of environmental sculpture resulted from environmental art. 2. Finally the characteristics for instance architecture(it also can be a sculpture in the urban space in a sense) sculpture pedestrain tile designing supergraphic are investigated. Nowadays it is true that the meaning of sculpture more and more closely related with human life. Physical characteristic of environmental sculpture is closely connected with the place. So it is important to understand environmntal sculpture as a component of city environment. As the result of this paer we suggest the following ones: 1. Above all as the sculpture needs realistic spaces, we can't imagine sculpture without space. And the location where the sculpture is placed must always consider surroundings, because the location harmonize with surroundings and it is composed against surroundings. The surroundings include the plastic space of sculpture as backgrounds and affect human feelings. 2. Art always needs human conducts and can't exist by itself. so that Art can show real value through the harmony with human life. So the relations among individual buildings, space and sculpture harmonized in the human-engineering-dimension one another. The reason that sculpture became and essential constituent unit of the urban surroundings like this is not only the beauty that sculpture itself emanates but also the summary of certain place characteristics and the rearrangement of the discursive circumference. 3. In contemplating the nature of designing and the nature of the built world. therefore, urban designers architects landscape architects, sculptor and interior designers have to turn to the research of an eclectic group of people intersted in similar issues.

      • 環境藝術의 造形意味

        Up to now researchful activities through new recognition to environment in all sciences progress openly. In rapidly and highly changeable in dustrial society the fact is the reason why new environment is being created and controlled by human beings rather than naturally preceding environment was modelled. Under such re-illumination about environmental recognition a term called "environmental art" began to appear in art circles since from 1960's And the field of studies is being extended by a series of empirical artists. Such situation was caused continously by orientation of compound-style through studying of new field. that beginning of the 20th century. The solution of two problems that modern fine art has is suggested by such situation. Broken phenomena from the mass of people, one of such situation. derived between "artists discovery" and "masses acceptance" was suggested that the mass of people experience actually as the participants through logic of maximization of empathy by fine art. Extremely impersonal problems in modern fine art seek for return of humanity and liveliness through putting reality into works. This thesis is emphasized above and following viewpoints. Firstly the originated backgrounds to environmental art is arranged. Second is analyzed about the meaning of formative art to modern environmental art on the basis of generated aesthetics. Thrid is analyzed about meaning of it's aesthetic characteristics. Furthermore it's new possibilities as future art is considered. Through analysis about environmental art with above goals and concerns, this thesis comes to the following conclusion. 1. The basis of environmental art exists in object's thought, and it's progress is achieved by things in itself of object art, variableness of kinetic art and purity of action art. 2. Environmental art is combine-art with totaliy and display-art put emphasis on assemblage thought. 3. In order to maximize for empathy the environmental art is "circumstantial art" which guides the participation of masses through utilizing of the auditory sense, the sense of touch and the sense of smell including the sense of sight. 4. Environmental art is technological art with scientific environment through using of scientific method and means in modern extreme science. Finally environmental art is avant-garde art for recognition of the emotion in the times nowdays, and tells which the future possibility is achieved by purity that is true is fact through groping dialectic unity of all art. Additionally environmental art exists in as challenging culture which is developed new unknown field out of art, as art-behavior with breaking between human beings' lives and the arthful boundary.

      • 外部空問 設計에 있어 環境心理的 接近方法의 應用에 關한 考察

        In planning and designing of enterior spaces, the relationships between the space organization and charicteristics of user's sensation and behavior are basic and important aspect. Designing based on human perceptual/cognitive and behavioral attributes can be defined as an essential part of environmental psychological approaches. This article deals with the environmental design approaches which appreciate those relationships between people and spaces. The review of existing theories and paradigms on the exterior spaces was performed. And three types of approaches were categorized by their viewpoints and methodologies 1)Approaches in quantitative analysis, 2) Spatial sensation and behavioral approaches, and 3) Spatial pattern and conceptual approaches are those. All these approaches have the similar goals to accomplish the organic linkage between spatial organization and human attributes. Considering our design processes and approaches, uesr oriented designs as an environmental psychological approaches should be applied. As a result of the review, following spatial theories are suggested as a basic design concepts. 1) Goldfinger's space type based on human sensation, 2) Privacy continuum, 3) Positive/Negative space are those. These spatial concepts are colsely interrelated and with the harmonious combination of these concepts, a space can be tranformed into an organic and systematic behavior setting.
