The purpose of this study is to present the vision of College of Human Ecology in the 21th century. College of Human Ecology in Ewha originated from Home Economics, which was launched for the first time in Korea in early 20th century. Since then, College of Human Ecology, which has produced about 220 professors as of present, attempts to actualize 'the Best College of Human Ecology' in the 21th century dealing with the nature of human life and culture. That is, our college aims at planning or designing clothing, food & nutrition, and human life matching lifestyles and life stages of human beings. The College of Human Ecology is also interested in establishing 'a desirable model of Korean Woman' by promoting the quality of human life and well-beings and producing many specialists in various fields of Home Economics who could work as leaders in the Korean society. To the end, the focus of study is expended from 'Home' to 'Human, Life, and Environment' and from 'Theory' to 'life and Field of Industry' as well. In other words, our goal is facilitating various kinds of human life industries through research on 'Life and Culture' and producing specialists in these fields. Furthermore we will make the value of 'Ewha-Brand' world-wide and provide exchange programs with top ranked foreign universities.

고령화와 저금리 시대의 가계재무전략

Korea's ratio of those over age 65 to those 14 or under, an indicator of the society's vitality, will jump from 23rd highest in the world to second highest by 2050. As the numbers indicate, Korea is by far the world's fastest aging society. In addition, the Korean economy has been caught in the snare of low growth. It caused continual low interest trend and unstable financial market. This, study investigated family financial strategy in aging society and depressed financial market. Specifically, this study showed the amount of retirement funds needed for dual-income couple and single-income couple. Also, this study suggested family financial strategies for pre-retired family and retired family separately. This study can help families to identify general guidelines for financial preparation for retirement in aging societyand in the poor economic situation.

한국형 SPA의 마케팅 전략

The purpose of this study was to establish marketing strategy of korean SPA brand by comparing and analyzing domestic and foreign SPA brands. Case studies and qualitative researches were conducted and results are as follows 1) For Korean distribution market, Korean SPA brand needs enormous capital investments from enterprise to inroads into foreign market. 2) Global sourcing is indispensible. 3) Strategic cooperation with related company is needed. 4) Brand personality is essentialto survive in global market.

생존전략으로써의 탈북과 가족해체 경험 : 북한여성들의 사례를 중심으로 It Incurred An Unexpected Family Breakup to North Korean Female Defectors

In this article I researched on what made North Korean women become the defectors from their homeland and what happened to their family. I recruited 10 women in China and data from this study came from their stories. Findings of this study are that they experienced a terrible starvation from the early '90s. They couldn't help but apply the survival of the fittest to their everyday life. Their last but best strategy to survive is to extricate from the cruel land to a potential land, that is China bordering on North Korea. When they decided to go to China, they considered to stay there just 1 or 2 months for making money. So, they told a lie to their family or not noticed anything before they left home. All of the women's family broke down by death, missing, or divorce.

주부소비자에게 유용한 제품 및 서비스 조사분석 : An Analysis of Demand by Consumption Categories

This study examined useful goods and services which aided the married women in the household work. The sample (n=1,000) of this study was composed of both married women who participated in the paid labor force and those who did not. Also, this study identified criteria important to make a purchase for household consumption, and examined the differences of those criteria between married women who were employed in the labor market and those who were not employed. This study made a final list of preferred goods and services which were helpful to women both in market work and in the household work. An open handed question was used to identify what kind of household work need to be shared with society. Finally, this study could provide the private enterprise with the information necessary to develope more helpful goods and services for married women who were burdened with household work.

This study is aimed at tracing the origin and change in academic gown(or dress), giving the characteristic examples of academic costume in the various universities of the world, and then providing new academic gowns based on the Ewha Womans University's education ideology. Academic costume was founded upon ecclesiastical and monastic dress. The various colors, materials and linings of the hood were used to denote academic ranks and qualifications as in modern times. The scarlet Sub-Tunica or Cassock was for doctors of divinity and of law. Therefore, this study proposes 15 creative academic gown designs and products 12 academic gowns, 2 hoods and 2 caps according to academic ranks and the Ewha Womans university's education ideology.

노인 소비자의 자원봉사활동과 생활만족도에 관한 연구

The fast rates of aging of Korea has raised issues in the areas related to the elderly and made urgent demands to prepare for the upcoming aged society. Among the many measures, volunteer activities are regarded as to resolve problems among the elderly. In the study an in-depth interviews were conducted for those old people who participated in and didn't participate in volunteer activities under the goals of identifying the relationships between their volunteer activities and psychological well-being and to provide crucial grounds for activated volunteer activities and policy suggestions. Based on the case study results, the following suggestions were made regarding the volunteer activities and life satisfaction of the elderly consumers.

행동억제(behavioral inhibition) 연구의 최근 동향

The purpose of this study was to review empirical research on behavioral inhibition in children. This study examined a stream of preceding researches by taking a view of relationships of behavioral inhibition in children and characteristics of children and parents. Characteristics of children included temperament, sex, change of age, order of birth and characteristics of parents included parenting behavior such as sensitive parenting, controlled parenting, disapproval parenting, and overprotective Parenting. Moreover, this study analyzed thee cross-cultural researches of behavioral inhibition.

우리나라 여성복 프로모션업체에 대한 연구

The purpose of this study is to examine and activate the actual business conditions of promotion companies that are executing outsourcing in Korean fashion industry. A summary of this study is as follows. 1)In promotion companies that deal with women's apparels, more than half of the representatives' former vocations were designers. Those representatives' former vocations and their business strategies are deeply related to the companies' annual sales. 2)The first condition that promotion companies demand to fashion brands is to alter their payment system and to the govemment is to expand credit loan to the promotion companies.

연변 조선족의 성격구조 : 일상생활에 나타난 조선족의 실제

The purpose of this study is to investigate personality structures of Yanbain Chosun-jok which hasn't yet studied. Koreans' immigration to China started from the 19th century but Korean society in China was established in 1950's. A characteristic of Koreans' immigration to China was by force or by inevitable circumstances. China government named Koreans in China as Chosun-jok, which is one of Chinese ethnic group. Chosun-jok has struggled with social upheavals by modem times of China and Korea. Chosun-jok especially in Yanbian area is meaningful to Koreans in homeland because it is one of Koreans abroad and its society is neighboring to North Korea. Also, nowadays we easily encounter Chosun-iok is different from us. We have questioned who Chosun-iok is. These reasons made focused to what Yanbian Chosun-jok's characteristics are. Subjects are 502 yanbian Chosun-jok, and they are from middle-high social class. The study tool was Korean developed Ego states in Transactional Analysis. Yanbian Chosun-iok in general showed nurturing and reasonable, but lacks of responsibility and resistant. Especially, female Chosun-jok is more flexible than male Chosun-jok but females are still steadfast. Females' characteristics are considered as their struggling strategies in life.
