      • Captafol이 mouse의 면역반응에 미치는 영향

        The effect of capafol on the immunity and also the influence of ethanol to this immune response treated with captafol were investigated in two experimental groups of mice, that one was treated with captafol and the other was treated with captafol and ethanol. The weight of spleen and thymus were reduced by treatment of captafol and the HY titer. HA titer and Arthus reaction were also supressed in both of two treated groups, it showed that the captafol exerts depressive effect on humoral immune response in mice. The DTH and RFC were also impaired in captafol treated mice, so that the captafol exerted effect on the cellular immune response. According to this experiment immunity, the ethanol had influence on immune response by the treatment of captafol. Therefore the ethanol accelated the supression of humoral and cellular immune response.

      • The Studies on the Influence of Antioxidants on the Toxicity of Polychlorinated Biphenyls(PCBs)(Ⅰ)

        PCB의 毒性에 대한 抗酸化劑의 영향을 mice와 rats를 各各 7群으로 나누어 PCB 100ppm, 500ppm과 抗酸化劑로 vitamin C 500 ppm과 vitamin E 150ppm을 各各 투여 12週間 사육한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) 투여한 PCB는 rat의 體重增加를 감소시키고 mice와 rats에서 liver weight/body weight 比를 증가시켰으나 mice에서는 體重增加의 감소보다 오히려 약간의 증가를 보였다. 2) PCB를 투여한 rats의 肝臟의 組織學的 所見으로 clear cytoplase, vacualation of hepatocytes, slight sinusoidal congestion, increased numbers of Kupffer cells, hydrophic degeneration이 보였으나 核의 變化는 없었다. PCB를 투여한 rats의 腎臟의 組織學的 所見으로는 약간의 renal papillary degeneration과 congestion이 보였다. 3) 抗酸化劑로 투여한 vitamin C는 mice와 rats에서 PCB의 毒性에 아무 영향을 주지 못했다. 4) 抗酸化劑로 투여한 vitamin E는 rats에서 PCB의 毒性인 體重增加의 감소, liver weight/body weight 比의 증가와 肝臟, 腎臟의 組織學的 變化를 감소시켰다. The effects of antioxidants on the toxicity of PCBs were studied in 7 groups of mice and 7 groups of rats fed commercial stock diet added with PCBs and antioxidants, vitamin C and vitamin E for 12 weeks. The obtained results are as follows; 1) PCBs decreased the body weight gain in rats and increased the liver weight/body weight ratio in mice and rats, but did not decrease the body weight gain, rather increased very slightly in mice. 2) The liver of PCBs-doesed rats showed clear cytoplasm, vacuolation of hepatocytes, slight sinusoidal congestion, encreased numbers of Kupffer cell, hydrophic degeneration but dit not show the nuclear changes. The kidney of PCBs-dosed rats showed some renal papillary degeneration and congestion. 3) Antioxidant, vitamin C did nor have an influence on the toxicity of PCBs in mice and rats. 4) Antioxidant, vitamin E decreased the toxicity of PCBs, reduction of body weight gain and increase of liver weight/body weight ratio and morphological alterations of liver and kidney of rats.

      • Effects of Squalene on the Immune Responses in Mice(Ⅰ) : Humorial Immune Responses of Squalene

        Effects of squalene on humoral immune system in mice were investigated. Squalene exhibited significant increases in the circulating leukocyte counts and relative pleen and thymus weights of the mice. However the relative live weight was slightly decreased. Hemagglutination titers (HA) were signficantly enhanced by squalene while Arthus reaction was not affected. Splenic plaque forming cells (PFC) were also greatly increased by squalene. especially at doses of 50 and 100 ㎎/㎏ of it.

      • Paraquat 毒性이 Mouse의 免疫反應에 미치는 影響

        In this paper we have reported that effect of the glycyrrhizin which contained main component in the licorice root on the immunotoxicity of paraquat. The paraquat and glycyrrhizin was administered intraperitoneally by injection in this experiment. Both of treated and untreated mice with paraquat were sensitized and challenged with s-RBC. The immune responses in the untreated mice were evaluated by antibody production, that is, arthus reation, delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), rosette forming cell and macrophage activity. Although the immune responses in the group treated with paraquat decreased markedly, but in the group treated paraquat with glycyrrhizin significantly restored or potentially reduced humoral and cellular immune response and phagocyte activity.

      • Quercetin이 마우스의 면역반응에 미치는 영향

        Effects of quercetin on the specific and non-specific immune responses were studied in vivo. Quercetin at a dose of 2.5, 5, 10, 20 and 40 ㎎/㎏ were orally administered to ICR male mice once daily for 28 consecutive days. Cuclophosphamide was injected intraperitoneally to ICR mice with a single dose of 5㎎/㎏ 2 days before secondary immunization. Mice were sensitized and challenged with sheep red blood cells (S-RBC). Immune responses were evaluated by humoral and cellular immune reponses and non-specific immune response. The results of this study were summerized as followings: 1. Quercetin significantly decreased the body weight, and introduced the atrophy of liver, spleen and thymus gland dose-dependently, but increased the numbers of white blood cell. 2. Querectin significantly depressed the hemagglutination titer, Arthus reaction and hemolythtic plaque forming cell. 3. Querectin significantly depressed the delayed type hypersensitivity and rosette forming cell. 4. Quercetin at a dose of 2.5, 5 and 40㎎/㎏ significantly depressed phagocytic activity. 5. Quercetin at d dose of 10 and 20 ㎎/㎏ significantly increased natural killer cell activity.

      • 마우스에 있어서 카드뮴의 免疫毒性에 미치는 人蔘 석유 Ether分劃의 影響(Ⅱ)

        Experiment was performed to investigate the immunotoxicity of cadmium administered orlly and the effect of ginseng pertoleum ether fraction on it. Mice were given 3, 30, or 300 ppm cadmium as cadmium chloride orally in the drinking water and injection of ginseng pertoleum ether fraction intraperitoneally for 4 weeks. Mice were sensitized and challenged with sheep red blood cells (S-RBC). Immune response was evaluated by delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH). Rosette forming cell (RFC), phagocyte activity, and natural killer cell activity (NK cell activity). In the present study, cadmium suppressed the cellular immunity. It also depressed phagocyte activity very significantly in all cadmium-administered groups. NK cell activity in the cadmium-300 ppm administered group. Ginseng petroleum ether fraction showed restoring effect on the decrease in RFC by cadmium-administration. Remarkably, it showed very significant restoring effect on the depression of phagocyte activity induced by cadmium-administration. From this results, we suppose that the anti-tumor effect of ginseng ether or pertoleum ether extract, which has been reported by some other researchers, is mainly due to the increase of phagocyte activity by it's administration.

      • 마우스에 있어서 酸敗들기름 食餌가 免疫反應에 미치는 影響

        The effect of rancid perilla oil on the immune response in mice was studied. ICR male mice were divided into 5 groups and were fed on the experimental diets for 4 weeks. Mice were sensitized and challenged with sheep red blood cell. Immune responses were evaluated by antibody production, Arthus reaction, delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH), Rosette forming cell and macrophage activity. Biochemical items were measured by serum protein and serum albumin. the weight of spleen, thymus and liver were measured. The rancid perilla oil diets decreased humoral and cellular immune responses, the number of peripheral circulating white blood cells and total protein and serum albumin. These results showed that the high rancid perilla oil diet decreased more humoral and cellular immune response, the number of peripheral circulating white blood cells, and total protein and serum albumin than the low rancid perilla oil diet did.

      • 萬頃江流域에 있어서 井水中의 弗素含量에 관한 硏究

        This study is the survey about Fluorine contents in the well water of area of Mankyung River side and water of Mankyung River. The result of this survey is as followings: The water of well in this area contained 0.5∼1.3ppm and it's average value was about 0.8 ppm. The water from Mankyung River contained 0.8∼0.9ppm and it's average value is 0.87ppm. By the regionally sectional survey the well water of the area of Mankyung River side, the well water of Chun-Ju, Iri, Samye, and Kusan contained 0.5∼0.8ppm, but the well water of Baikku area contained 0.6∼1.3ppm. Especially in Baikku area 63% of well contained 0.6∼1.0ppm and 38% of well contained 1.1∼1.3ppm. From the above results one can conclude that the 38% of well water of the Baikku area is troubled one.

      • 영산강 중류 및 상류수계의 ABS 오염도에 관한 연구

        The contamination level of ABS, the synthetic detergent, was determined at eleven areas of upper streams and mid streams of Young San river on April, May and June in 1976. Throughout the whole experiment Ji Seok, Hwang Ryong and upper Young San river all had below 0.075ppm ABS residue, and in these area ABS contents were similar to cach other. The sudden increasing tendency of ABS contents at the mid stream are attributed to being greatly affected by much polluted Gwang Ju stream which has 0.235∼0.275ppm of ABS. But dilution of pollutant was taken place in this area by the inflowing of Ji Seok and Hwang Ryong river. On June ABS content and other pollutant increased a little a compared with April and May. But at any area it did not exceed 0.5ppm, the standard value of drinking water. To know the influence of ABS contamination on DO content the relationship between ABS and DO was examined by calculating correlation coefficient. This relationship has strong and significant correlation(r=-0.78) and the distribution trend of frequency are more fit to the curve line equation xy-6.3x=0.045 than to the straight line equation y=-3.9x+7.4. In the relationshop between ABS and COD a strong and significant correlation coefficient(r=0.93) was calculated and the frequency distribute very closely along the straight line equation y=22.2x+1.21. From above facts the author found out that as the ABS contamination in general river water coexist closely with other pollutant it is likely to be considered as new water pollution index.

      • 河川水質(萬頃江)의 汚染과 底棲生物에 關한 硏究

        1. The author has investigated the present status of the water pollution and studied its influence on the benthos in the Mankyung River and its branches, which run from Mt. Wonchung to Yellow Sea, in Auguest, 1973. 2. The upper stream, where the branches of Mankyung River, Soyang River, Kosan River, and Chonju River flow together, is presumed to be called the oligosaprobe zone which is gradually changing into β-mesosaprobe zone. 3. Though the upper stream of Chonju River, which is not influenced by the various pollutants, belongs to the oligosaprobe zone, the stream near the city of Chonju is so influenced by the pollutants of the domestic and industrial sewage from the city that its water quality is gradually changing into that of the α-mesosaprobe zone. 4. It is found that Ephemereptera mainly inhabits in the oligosaprobe zone and some in the β-mesosaprobe zone. The water quality is going to be changed into more polluted state, fewer of none of the organisms are observed in α-mesosaprobe zone. 5. The aquatic insects such as Ecdyonurus yoshidae, E. kibuensis, Choroterpes trifurcata, and Potamanthus sp. inhabit dominantly in the oligosaprobe and β-mesosaprobe zone, upper stream where Soyang River, Kosan River, and Chonju River flow together, Branchiura sowerbyi inhabits dominantly in the polysaprobe zone. As a result it is found that Ecdyonurus yoshidae, E. kibunensis, Choroterpes trifurcata, and Potamanthus sp. are the indicator species which represents the water quality of the oligosaprobe and β-mesosaprobe zone and Branchiura sowerbyi is that of polysaprobe zone.
