      • Walt Whitman의 民主主義와 그 背景

        모든 문학적 작품이 궁극적으로 사회의 産物이라 할 수 있겠으나, 월트 휘트만의 경우는 그의 天才와 독착성에도 불구하고 더욱 그의 時代를 反映하는 듯하다. 19세기 전반의 新生 미국의 커다란 두 과제는 문화적 독립과 민주주의 理想의 실현에 있었고 휘트만은 이 미국적 이상을 의식적으로 대변하려 했던 탁월한 시인이었다. 이 짧은 小稿에서 필자는 휘트만을 가리켜 계몽주의의 가장 완벽한 구현자라고 한 패링튼의 입장에 근본적으로 동의하면서 그가 생각한 민중, 민주주의와, 그 배경이 되는 19세기 전반의 미국적 현실을 槪觀하였다. During the colonial period and for some decades which followed the American Revolution, the literature of the United States had been inevitably dependent upon the tradition of the Old Word. of course there had been incessant endeavors on the part of the American men of letters to create their own distinct literature, but on the whole it seems that by the mid-19th century their soul were still lingering on England and Europe while their body had lived on the new soil long enough. And with the advent of Walt Whitman it was evident that he was the first poet who embodied this hope and marked a new epoch in the history of American letters. Whitman had no qualm in shedding off all the conventionalities and banalites of the genteel tradition. He expressed new, democratic, American ideals, which were in their theme cosmic as well, in a bold, free, and often exuberant art form. If the Declaration of 1776 was a political manifesto intending for independent nation-building, the first editon of Leaves of Grass in 1855 was in effect an eventful expression of the mature, independent spirit of the new nation. Whitman himself made it clear that he intended to assume the role of the American Bard or the prophet of the New Age. If all literary works are ultimately the product of the society, this seems to be especially true in the case of Walt Whitman, who consciously and ardently endeavored to embrace the new American ideal of democracy and who, according to Parrington, lived in the afterglow of the Enlightenment. The present short study has been focused on the correlation of the poet's concept of democracy and the background realities of the first half of the 19th century America.

      • 폐타이어 담체를 이용한 유동상 생물막공정의 고도처리 효율에 관한 연구

        Organic and nutrient removal was investigated in a full scale fluidized phase biofilm process of 800m-(3)/day using waste tire media for domestic wastewater treatment. Various internal reciculation ratio was set as an operation condition to enhance nitrogen removal efficiency. The process operation results are as follows. Significantly high removal efficiency above 94% could be obtained by the biofilm process in terms of organics(BOD&COD_(Mn)) and suspended solid(SS). Relatively low nitrogen removal of 53% was observed at the internal recycling 100% of influent flow rate. However the removal efficiency could be increased to 70% at 200% internal recycling. The process showed also considerably high T-P removal efficiency of 80% producing effluent concentration of 0.68mg/L for 3.38mg/L influent.

      • 비주거용 시설의 물 사용 실태 분석에 관한 연구

        Questionnaire survey was executed to evaluate the water usage pattern about using type and overall satisfaction of water-conservation equipment or device, water price and etc. in non-residential district of Jeonnam Province. Speciffic results obtained from the survey are as follows. In non-residential district the largest portion of water usage was as follows; washing and shower in lodging accommodation 50%.0%, cooking in restaurant 61.0%, washing and shower in public bath 50.0%, cooking in office/public institution 41.6% and cooking in school 41.6%. On the other hand, the usage of underground water in the same district was 15.3% in oldging accommodation, 61.0% in restaurant, 57.2% in office/public institution and 84.1% in school. In the survey on the consciousness for water conservation, opinion that waste of water is excessive was 83.1% and consciousness on water shortage country was 91.7%. It was assumed that the water shortage will be happen 5 years after. Opinion that water shortage is necessary was 86.0%. Perchentage for aapropriate water shortage portion was 25.0%. It was shown than television is the most effective media for public information. In non-residential district, water-conservation equipment was installed as 50.1% on an average, 53.1% was satisfied the usage of water-conservation equipment. Water usage was reduced by the equipment as 47%. 29.5% agreed to rise the water price as suitable raising rate, 10%. Dual water system was established in lodging accommodation(4.6%), public bath(4.5%) and office/public institution(2.3%), but it was not established in school. Concern in rainwater harvesting was as follows; lodging accommodation 50.0%, restaurant 49.2%, public bath 77.3%, office/public institution 2.3% and school 38.7%. Results from the survey on recognition of indoor water leakage was shown as lodging accommodation 68.2%, restaurant 80.8%, public bath 81.8%, office/public institution 61.4%, and school 70.5%

      • 활성탄소섬유를 이용한 휘발성유기화합물의 흡착특성 연구

        One of the most inportant technical issues of recent years is the effective and economical removal of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) in air. The present study examined the adsorption characteristics of common and toxic VOCs including Methyl Ethyl Ketone(MEK), acetaldehyde and toluene in the gas phase using commercial activated carbon fibers(ACFs). First of all, the adsorption equilibrium capacity as a function of initial VOC's concentration and adsorbate sorts was investigated in a packed bed reactor. As for the effect of the initial VOC's concentration, the adsorption equilibrium capacity increased with increasing initial concentration of VOC's, but reached a constant value beyond a certain concentration. The adsorption equilibrium capacity increased with increasing molecular weight of adsorbate, but decreased with temperature.

        The flora(macro-hydrophyte) and Vegetation of Jeongyang reservoir and surrounding area was investigated from March, 2005 to October, 2005. The Macro-hydrophyte of this area consist of 31 taxa : 1 variety, 30 species, 27 genera and 19 family. The Macro-hydrophyte of this area consist of Emergent Plants : 15 species, 12 genera, 8 family, Submerged Plants : 6 species, 6 genera, 5 family, Free-floating Plants : 3 species, 3 genera, 2 family, Folating leaved Plants : 3 species, 3 genera, 3 family, Hygrophytes Plants : 3 species, 3 genera, 3 family, Terrestrial Plants : 1 species, 1 genera, 1 family. The communities of Jeongyang lake : Miscanthus sacchariflorus community, Echinochloa crus-galli var.frumentacea community, Scirpus triqueter community, Ziaznia latifolia community, Phragmites communis community, Typha orientalis community and persicaria thunbergii community. The life form spectrum : Emergent Plants 48%, Submerged Plants 19%, Free-floating plants 10%, Floating leaved Plants 10%, Hygrophytes Plants 10%, Terrestrial Plants 3%.

        The flora(macro-hydrophyte) Vegetation of Baksil reservoir and surrounding area was investigated from March, 2005 to October, 2005. The Macro-hydrophyte of this area consist of 33 taxa : 3 variety, 30 species, 30 genera and 22 family. The Maro-hydrophyte of this area consist of Emergent Plants : 16 species, 14 genera, 11 family, Submerged plants : 4 species, 4 genera, 3 family, Free-floating Plants : 3 species, 3 genera, 2 family, Floating leaved Plants : 2 species, 2 genera, 2 family, Hygrophytes Plants : 5species, 5 genera, 4 family. The communites of Jeongyang lake : Miscanthus Sacchariflorus community, Zizania latifolia community, Phragmites communis community, Tyhpa orientalis community and Trapa japonica community. The life form spectrum : Emergent Plants 49%, Submerged Plants 12%, Free-floating Plants 9%, Floating leaved plants 6%, Hygrophytes plants 15%.

      • 생선폐기물 처리시스템으로 Dry Fermentation 적용 가능성 평가를 위한 생분해도 연구

        To understand decomposition characteristics of waste is essential factor in defeloping optimum anaerobic digestion system for organic waste. In this study, BMP(Biochemical Methane Potential) test using serum bottle was conducted to evaluate the anaerobic degradability of fish offal. Fish offal from mackerel and hairtail and fish viscera were chosen for the substrates. Grinded fish offal was transferred anaerobically to serum bottle in amounts of 50mL,100mL,150mL, respectively. BMP test was carried out in triplicate. Cumulative methane production and methane production rate depending on incubation time were evaluated. These results varied depending on substrate characteristics. In general, however, the average value was 420-479mL/kg VS. In case of mackerel and hairtail, methane production/unit solid weight of viscera is higher than that of other part of fish offal. However, degradation rate of viscera is slower than that of other part of fish offal. Analysis of elemental composition is conducted on fish offal used in this study. Average C/N ratio of fish offal was 5.2.

      • 과잉양수에 의한 지하수고갈 영향에 대한 연구

        To study the relations of underground/surface-water exhaustion and excessive pumping, we have analyzed river, geological characteristics, recharge rate of rainfall and underground-water level. The ground water recharge rate from the SCS-CN analysis is 8.4%, and the recharge is computed in 6.4111 x 10^(5)㎥/y. This results mean that a big drawdown in observation holes may be occurred by excessive pumping. From in-situ hydraulic conductivity test, hydraulic conductivity in basement of the study area is calculated in 7.996 x 10^(-6)-2.067 x 10^(-6)m/sec. The underground/surface-water in the study area with small underground-water recharge rate will be exhausted by long time pumping.

      • 염분이 함유된 폐수의 생물학적 처리시 염분농도가 오염물질의 제거에 미치는 영향

        Effects of salt concentration and C/N ratio on pollutants removal efficiencies were investigated in treatment of seafood wastewater by sequence batch reactor(SBR). The synthetic seafood wastewater containing salinity from 3,000 to 10,000 mg/L NaCI and C/N ratio of 2 and 4 was treated by SBR. Removal efficiencies of COD_(Mn), T-N, and T-P decreased with increasing salt concentration, but eventually reached a pollutants removal a platrau. As systems adapted in salts until salts concentration of 8,000mg/L, the time required to reach the pollutants removal efficiencies at steady state was reduced. However, the removal efficiencies of pollutants sharply decreased and the time require to reach steady state was increased as salt concentration rose to 10,000mg/L, Removal efficiencies of COD_(Mn) were higher for C/N ratio of 4 than for 2. Effects of salt on the nitrogen removal were not faster than the organic removal but the time required to the nitrogen removal at steady state was ncreased. The removal efficiencies of phosphorus also were redueed as salt concentration increased, which inhibited the release of phosphorus than the uptake.

      • 취서산과 천성산 수계의 저서성 대형무척추동물 군집구조

        The community structures of benthic macroinvertebrates in the streams of Mt. Kauisan and Mt. Chuiseosan were studied. The surveyed sites were streams of Mt. Chuiseosan area, Tongdosa area and Naewonsa area of Mt Chunsungsan. The collection was performed from May to October of 2005. As a result, total macroinvertbrates collected in the stream of Mt Chuiseosan area were 3 phyla, 3 classes, 10 orders, 19 families, 31 species and 293 individuals. From the Tongdosa area, 2 phyla, 3 classes, 11 orders, 33 families, 51 species and 827 individuals were identified. From the Naewonsa area, 3 phyla, 4 classes, 11orders, 23 families, 32 species and 457 individuals were found. The community analysis showed the highest species diversity and species richness in Tongdosa area than other areas. The dominant species of this study was Semisulcospira libertina and it occupied 21.66% of total individuals.
