Current-Mode Electronically Tunable Universal Filter Using Only Plus-Type Current Controlled Conveyors and Grounded Capacitors

        Shahram Minaei,Sait Türköz 한국전자통신연구원 2004 ETRI Journal Vol.26 No.4

In this paper we present a new current-mode electronically tunable universal filter using only plus-type current controlled conveyors (CCCII+s) and grounded capacitors. The proposed circuit can simultaneously realize lowpass, bandpass, and highpass filter functions— all at high impedance outputs. The realization of a notch response does not require additional active elements. The circuit enjoys an independent current control of parameters ωo and ωo / Q. No element matching conditions are imposed. Both its active and passive sensitivities are low.

Evaluation of the role of inflammatory blood markers in predicting the pathological response after neoadjuvant chemoradiation in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer

Shahram Manoochehry(Shahram Manoochehry ),Hamid Reza Rasouli(Hamid Reza Rasouli ),Fathollah Ahmadpour(Fathollah Ahmadpour ),Alireza Keramati(Alireza Keramati ) 대한방사선종양학회 2023 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.41 No.2

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the role of inflammatory blood markers in predicting the pathological response rate after neoadjuvant chemoradiation (neo-CRT) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Materials and Methods: In this prospective cohort study, we analyzed the data of patients with LARC who underwent neo-CRT and surgical removal of the rectal mass between 2020 and 2022 in a tertiary medical center. Patients were examined weekly during chemoradiation and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), and systemic immune inflammation index (SII) were calculated from weekly laboratory data. Wilcoxon signed-ranks and logistic regression analysis were utilized to determine whether any laboratory parameters during different time point assessments or their relative changes could predict the tumor response based on a permanent pathology review. Results: Thirty-four patients were recruited for the study. Eighteen patients (53%) achieved good pathologic response. Statistical analysis by Wilcoxon signed-ranks method indicated significant rises in NLR, PLR, MLR, and SII on weekly assessments during chemoradiation. Having an NLR over 3.21 during chemoradiation was correlated with the response on a Pearson chi-squared test (p = 0.04). Also, a significant correlation was found between the PLR ratio over 1.8 and the response (p = 0.02). NLR ratio over 1.82 marginally missed a significant correlation with the response (p = 0.13). On multivariate analysis, a PLR ratio over 1.8 showed a trend for response (odds ratio = 10.4; 95% confidence interval, 0.9–123; p = 0.06). Conclusion: In this study, PLR ratio as an inflammatory marker showed a trend in the prediction of response in permanent pathology to neo-CRT.

An accurate and simple model for flexible satellites for three-dimensional studies

Shahram Shahriari,Shahram Azadi,Majid M. Moghaddam 대한기계학회 2010 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.24 No.6

In this paper, an accurate and simple model of a satellite with two flexible solar panels for three-dimensional dynamic studies is proposed and compared with other models. In the proposed model, each solar panel is assumed to be rigid and attached to the satellite body via a simple hinge, a torsional spring, and a torsional damper. Kane's method is utilized to derive the equations of motion. The model of flexible satellite with the assumption of Euler-Bernoulli beam for the solar panels, generally used in the literature, has been introduced for comparison. A comprehensive model of flexible satellite, considering solar panels as flexible and finite element panels, has been provided in ADAMS environment as a reference when comparing the two mentioned models. The Euler-Bernoulli model does not appropriately simulate the three-dimensional motion of satellite. Conversely, the hinged, rigid-panel model proposed in this paper provides suitable results in both two- and three-dimensional maneuvers.

Comparison of the impact of applications of Targeted Transfusion Protocol and Massive Transfusion Protocol in trauma patients

        Shahram Paydar,Behnam Dalfardi,Hosseinali Khalili,Golnar Sabetian,Shahram Bolandparvaz,Mohammad Hadi Niakan,Hamidreza Abbasi,Donat R. Spahn 대한마취통증의학회 2017 Korean Journal of Anesthesiology Vol.70 No.6

Background: The current study assessed a recently developed resuscitation protocol for bleeding trauma patients called the Targeted Transfusion Protocol (TTP) and compared its results with those of the standard Massive Transfusion Protocol (MTP). Methods: Per capita utilization of blood products such as packed red blood cells (RBCs), fresh frozen plasma (FFP), and platelet concentrates was compared along with mortality rates during two 6-month periods, one in 2011 (when the standard MTP was followed) and another in 2014 (when the TTP was used). In the TTP, patients were categorized into three groups based on the presence of head injuries, long bone fractures, or penetrating injuries involving the trunk, extremities, or neck who were resuscitated according to separate algorithms. All cases had experienced motor vehicle accidents and had injury severity scores over 16. Results: No statistically significant differences were observed between the study groups at hospital admission. Per capita utilization of RBC (4.76 ± 0.92 vs. 3.37 ± 0.55; P = 0.037), FFP (3.71 ± 1.00 vs. 2.40 ± 0.52; P = 0.025), and platelet concentrate (1.18 ± 0.30 vs. 0.55 ± 0.18; P = 0.006) blood products were significantly lower in the TTP epoch. Mortality rates were similar between the two study periods (P = 0.74). Conclusions: Introduction of the TTP reduced the requirements for RBCs, FFP, and platelet concentrates in severely injured trauma patients.

NVH analysis and improvement of a vehicle body structure using DOE method

Shahram Azadi,Mohammad Azadi,Farshad Zahedi 대한기계학회 2009 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.23 No.11

The improvement of a vehicle body structure under the constraint of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) behavior is investigated by using design of experiments (DOE) method. First, car body geometry is modeled in CATIA and meshed in HYPERMESH software. Then, a modal analysis between 0-50 Hz is done by MSC NASTRAN. A frequency map of the body is extracted and compared with a reference map to identify shortcomings. By using factorial and response surface Methods (RSM), optimization of the NVH performance is accomplished. An algorithm is proposed to improve the car NVH behavior. At last, in order to verify the present algorithm, forced vibration is analyzed under real road inputs for the model before and after improvement.

On the Local Cohomology and Formal Local Cohomology Modules

Shahram Rezaei,Behruz Sadeghi 경북대학교 자연과학대학 수학과 2023 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.63 No.1

Let a and b be ideals of a commutative Noetherian ring R and M be a finitely generated R-module of dimension d > 0. We prove some results concerning the top local cohomology and top formal local cohomology modules. Among other things, we determine SuppR(b H d a(M)) and SuppR(bFd a(M)). Also, we obtain some relations be tween AnnR(b H d a(M)), AttR(b H d a(M)) and SuppR(b H d a(M)) and we get similar results for bFd a(M).

Effect of parameters on roll dynamic response of an articulated vehicle carrying liquids

Shahram Azadi,Ali Jafari,Masoud Samadian 대한기계학회 2014 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.28 No.3

Directional response and roll stability characteristics of a partly filled tractor semi-trailer vehicle, with cylindrical tank, under differentparameters and conditions are investigated. The effective parameters and conditions in the stability of a tractor semi-trailer carrying liquidcan be considered as filled volume, kinematic viscosity of liquid cargo and vehicle steering input. The dynamic interaction of liquid cargowith the tractor semi-trailer vehicle is evaluated by integrating a dynamic slosh model of the partly filled tank with five-degrees-offreedomof a tractor semi-trailer tank model. The dynamic fluid slosh within the tank is modeled using three-dimensional Navier-Stokesequations, coupled with the volume-of-fluid equations and analyzed using FLUENT software. The coupled tank-vehicle model is subsequentlyanalyzed to determine the roll stability characteristics for different conditions and maneuvers. The results show effects of parametervariations on roll stability of the vehicle carrying liquid and also fluid's behavior in interaction with a vehicle's dynamics.

Influence of γ-Al2O3 nano particles on the properties of washcoats deposited on cordierite monoliths

        Shahram G. Pakdehi,Mozaffar Salimi,Maryam Rasoolzadeh,Mojtaba Abbasi 한양대학교 세라믹연구소 2015 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.16 No.5

The main aspects of washcoating of ceramic monolith by nano γ-Al2O3 slurry were studied. Some of the deposition characteristics of the washcoat such as morphology and homogeneity, specific load, thickness of the layer and adherence were examined. SEM was applied to assess the quality of the washcoat layer and measure its thickness. The adhesion of nano γ- Al2O3 washcoat on cordierite monolith was investigated by a vibrational ultrasonic and thermal shock tests. Nano γ-Al2O3 washcoat forms a good homogeneous layer on the monolith in comparison with the common micron size γ-Al2O3 particles, but some cracks appeared on washcoated layer.

Development and evaluation of punching shear database for flat slab-column connections without shear reinforcement

Shahram Derogar,Ceren Ince,Parthasarathi Mandal 국제구조공학회 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.66 No.2

A large body of experiments have been conducted to date to evaluate the punching shear strength of flat slab-column connections, but it is noted that only a few of them have been considered for the development of the ACI Code provisions. The limited test results used for the development of the code provisions fall short of predicting accurately the punching shear strength of such connections. In an effort to address this shortfall and to gain an insight into the factors that control the punching shear strength of flat slab-column connections, we report a qualified database of 650 punching shear test results in this article. All slabs examined in this database were tested under gravity loading and do not contain shear reinforcement. In order to justify including any test result for evaluation punching shear database, we have developed an approved set of criteria. Carefully established set of criteria represent the actual characteristics of structures that include minimum compressive strength, effective depths of slab, flexural and compression reinforcement ratio and column size. The key parameters that significantly affect the punching shear strength of flat slab-column connections are then examined using ACI 318-14 expression. The results reported here have paramount significance on the range of applicability of the ACI Code provision and seem to indicate that the ACI provisions do not sufficiently capture many trends identified through regression of the principal parameters, and fall on the unsafe side for the prediction of the punching shear strength of flat slab-column connections.

Hijacking Tobacco Hairy Roots and Leaves in Order to Produce IpaD Antigen by Means of Different Signal Peptides

Shahram Shokrian Hajibehzad,Fariba Abooei Mehrizi,Hossein Honari,Houshang Alizadeh 한국작물학회 2017 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.20 No.5

IpaA, IpaB, IpaC, and IpaD are Shigella dysenteriae Ipa operon genes which collectively contribute in invasion to the epithelial cells of the human gut. Among them, IpaD has been demonstrated to play the most crucial role in shigellosis. Noteworthy, due to the more efficient, cost-effective and no need for advanced equipment in comparison with traditional systems, plant-based expression systems are considered as a novel strategy for production of recombinant proteins. As an aim of this research, attempts were carried out to examine and compare IpaD antigen production in three different plant-based platforms, including transgenic tobacco hairy roots and leaves as well as a transient based expression. Furthermore, different signal peptides (i.e. Zera and Extensin) were also employed in order to improve the production level. Based on TAS-ELISA result, the highest yield of IpaD acquired by ER-derived protein bodies (Zera ) which was more than 1.29-fold higher as compared with apoplastic space based on TSP% in both transgenic tobacco hairy roots and leaves. Furthermore, transgenic tobacco hairy roots were more abundant than transgenic leaves averaging 0.52 ng of IpaD per μg TSP and with a maximum of 0.94 ng IpaD per μg TSP in the best-performing construct of pBI-ZeCIpaD. Totally, the results of quantitative RT-PCR and TAS-ELISA indicated that the best time point for the production of IpaD using agroinfiltration was 72 h post infiltration and during 72 to 96 hpi, expression levels descended rapidly. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report representing and combining the potential effects of signal peptides and plant-based expression platforms on stably production of IpaD antigen in transgenic tobacco leaves and hairy roots.
