        Static Magnetic Properties of Maghemite Nanoparticles

        We report the static magnetic properties of Maghemite (-Fe2O3) nanoparticles with an averagecrystallite size of 14 ± 1.8 nm synthesized via a co-precipitation method. The zero-field-cooled(ZFC) and the field-cooled (FC) magnetization measurements were performed using a physicalproperties measurements system (PPMS) at temperatures from 5 K to 300 K. The ZFC/FC measurementsshowed a typical superparamagnetic behavior with a narrow size distribution.

        Chitosan Mediated Formation and Impregnation of Silver Nanoparticles on Viscose Fabric in Single Bath for Antibacterial Performance

        Cellulosic materials being biodegradable are susceptible to bacterial attack. Present study was meant to develop anantibacterial viscose fabric via a clean, easy and reproducible approach. Silver nanoparticles (SNPs) were prepared usingchitosan both as reducing and as well as stabilizing agent to promote green synthesis of SNPs. The prepared SNPs werecharacterized using dynamic light scattering and UV-visible (vis) absorption spectroscopy. The average size of SNPs wasfound to be 8.574 nm with respective zeta potential of +45.2 mV using AgNO3 concentration of 1 mM and chitosan as 1 %(w/v). Pre-treated viscose fabric was undergone an in situ treatment to impregnate SNPs on its surface under certain autoclaveconditions. Scanning electron microscopy revealed the presence of SNPs on surface of treated viscose fabric in comparisonwith the untreated fabric. In addition, Fourier transform infrared and elemental analysis confirmed the presence of silver onthe treated fabric. The textile properties of the viscose fabric samples like; tensile strength, wettability, antibacterial activityand whiteness were evaluated using the standard protocols. The developed treated viscose fabric showed good antibacterialproperties against both Gram negative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus bacterial strains with fairtextile characteristics. This is the first report on in situ fabrication and impregnation of SNPs using chitosan as both reducingand stabilizing agent on a regenerated cellulose fabric like viscose.

        The integration of solar energy with a power system brings great economic and environmental benefits. However, the high penetration of solar power challenges the operation and planning of the existing power system owing to the intermittence and randomicity of solar power generation. Achieving accurate prediction for power generation is important to provide balanced electric energy for end-users. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce a deep learning-based dual stream Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) network to learn spatial patterns using CNN and temporal features via the LSTM network. These features are then fused via a concatenation layer and then feed forward to Dense layers for optimal features selection and future solar power prediction. The performance of the proposed model is evaluated on benchmark datasets and achieved a new state-of-the-art on these datasets.

        Insurance-Growth Nexus: Aggregation and Disaggregation

        The aim of this article is to investigate the relationship between insurance and economic growth at aggregate and disaggregate level for the period 1982-2018. Very few studies have been carried out in this field, with contradictory results and using an aggregate data while, according to different authors, an aggregate data might provide spurious results. The author used Ordinary Least Squares Regressions (OLS) and Granger Causality tests to explore the strength and direction of the relationship between insurance and economic growth at an aggregate level. To check the relationship at disaggregate level life insurance, marine insurance, and property insurance are regressed on trade openness and investment, respectively. Non-life insurance at an aggregate level plays a positive and significant role in promoting economic growth, but life insurance has an insignificant impact on the Pakistan economy. On the other hand, non-life insurances at a disaggregated level such as marine insurance negatively affect a vital part of economic growth, i.e., trade. At the same time, property insurance has a significant and positive role in boosting investment. Life, marine, and property insurance Granger cause economic growth, trade, and investment in a single direction. Nevertheless, is a bi-directional relationship between economic growth and non-life insurance.

        On the Sum of Two Radical Classes

        Let ${\wp}_1$, ${\wp}_2$ be the radical classes of rings. Y. Lee and R. E. Propes have defined their sum by ${\wp}_1+{\wp}_2=\{R{\in}{\omega}:{\wp}_1(R)+{\wp}_2(R)=R\}$. They have shown that ${\wp}_1+{\wp}_2$ is not a radical class in general. In this paper, a few results of Lee and Propes are generalized and also new conditions are investigated under which this sum becomes a radical class.

        Stachys tibetica Vatke (Lamiaceae) is an important medicinal plant in the folk medicine of Ladakh, India and Tibet for the treatment of various mental disorders. Infusion and decoction of the whole plant is used as a cup of tea for a severe fever, headaches and to relieve tension. The recent study is aimed to evaluate the preliminary pharmacognostical and phytochemical nature of Stachys tibetica Vatke. The whole plant material was subjected to successive soxhlet extraction with petroleum ether (40 - 60C), chloroform, ethyl acetate, methanol and finally decocted with water to get the respective extracts. The fluorescence characteristics of the powdered materials were analysed under ultraviolet light and ordinary light. Different physicochemical parameters such as ash value, extractive value, foaming index, pH values, loss on drying and determination of foreign matter were carried out as per WHO guidelines. The total fat, flavonoid, saponin and volatile contents were also determined. Macroscopical studies revealed the authentication of the plant drug. Physicochemical parameters helped to standardize the plant material while preliminary qualitative chemical tests of different extracts showed the presence of Glycosides, Carbohydrates, Phytosterols/triterpenoids, Saponins, Fixed oils, Fats and phenols/tannins. Quantification of the total flavonoids and saponins and contents were determined as 54.66 ± 0.58 mg/g and 75.42 ± 0.48 mg/kg respectively, while the volatile and fat contents were 6.5% and 0.7% respectively. Results may lay the foundation for the standardization of the drug and discovery of new molecules from S. tibetica for the treatment of various diseases.

        Stochastic Optimization of Multipath TCP for Energy Minimization and Network Stability over Heterogeneous Wireless Network

        Multipath Transport Control Protocol (MPTCP) is a transport layer protocol that enables multiple TCP connections across various paths. Due to path heterogeneity, it incurs more energy in a multipath wireless network. Recent work presents a set of approaches described in the literature to support systems for energy consumption in terms of their performance, objectives and address issues based on their design goals. The existing solutions mainly focused on the primary system model but did not discourse the overall system performance. Therefore, this paper capitalized a novel stochastically multipath scheduling scheme for data and path capacity variations. The scheduling problem formulated over MPTCP as a stochastic optimization, whose objective is to maximize the average throughput, avoid network congestion, and makes the system more stable with greater energy efficiency. To design an online algorithm that solves the formulated problem over the time slots by considering its min-drift-plus penalty form. The proposed solution was examined under extensive simulations to evaluate the anticipated stochastic optimized MPTCP (so-MPTCP) outcome and compared it with the base MPTCP and the energy-efficient MPTCP (eMPTCP) protocols. Simulation results justify the proposed algorithm's credibility by achieving remarkable improvements, higher throughput, reduced energy costs, and lower-end to end delay.

        Xylanolytic Modification in Wheat Flour and its Effect on Dough Rheological Characteristics and Bread Quality Attributes

        Effects of various xylanase treatments applied at different stages of bread making process on dough rheological characteristics and bread quality attributes were investigated. Different doses (200, 400, 600, 800, and 1000 IU) of purified enzyme were applied at two stages (tempering and mixing). In milling and dough making processes, both types of flour (subjected to enzyme treatment during tempering and flour mixing) exhibited decreasing trend in water absorption, dough development time, dough stability, softening of dough, dough mixing time, viscosity peak, set back, and increasing tendency in peak height and pasting temperature. Treatments during tempering resulted in more significant effects as compared to applications during flour mixing. The dough rising during proofing resulted in enhancement from 137±3.21% (control) to maximum value (192.33±2.90%), when 600 IU of xylanases were applied to 1 kg of wheat grains during tempering. The bread sensory attributes also exhibited significant improvement in response to various doses of purified enzymes.
