Manipulations of glucose/lipid metabolism and gut microbiota of resistant starch encapsulated Ganoderma lucidum spores in T2DM rats

        Yumei Jiang,Na Zhang,Yawen Zhou,Zhongkai Zhou,Yu Bai,Padraig Strappe,Chris Blanchard 한국식품과학회 2021 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.30 No.5

Our team previously demonstrated that Ganodermalucidum spores (GLS) and resistant starch (RS) hadhypoglycemic effects separately on type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM) rats. This work was to explore the effects ofadministering encapsulated GLS within RS (referred to asEGLS) in the T2DM rats, which were induced by streptozotocin(STZ). The EGLS was orally administered torats for 28 days. The parameters of glycometabolismand lipometabolism were evaluated, and fecal microbiotacomposition was investigated. The results showed thatEGLS significantly enhanced glycometabolism and lipometabolismparameters in T2DM rats, which might beassociate with the enhancement of the glucose and lipidmetabolism, insulin secretion, and glycogen synthesis andreduced lipogenesis. Furthermore, the intervention ofEGLS also reduced the Proteobacteria community andimproved dysfunctional gut microbiota. This study indicatedEGLS may be a potential candidate for dietaryintervention to modulate diabetes.

      • Research on College Physical Education Teaching Practice Based on Classification and Stratification of Health Fitness

Yumei Jiang,Liluo Gan 아시아건강운동학회 2023 Journal of Asian Society for Health & Exercise Vol.5 No.1

PURPOSE : To explore the influence of classified and stratified teaching mode on the physical fitness of ordinary college students. METHODS : The physical fitness of 4139 freshmen of 2016 in a university was tested. According to the test results, it is divided into ordinary Class A class (qualified in the physical health test) and Class B class (unqualified in the physical health test), and then it will implement the classified and layered physical education teaching for two years. RESULTS : The application of the classified and stratified teaching model of physical education has a great effect on the improvement of various indicators of physical fitness and the overall qualification rate; The improvement of physical fitness in the physical health promotion class (Class B) is greater than that in the ordinary class (Class A); The implementation of the classified and stratified teaching model of college physical education is closely related to the process of integrated teaching in and out of class; The addition of PE teaching process evaluation to the curriculum assessment system is more conducive to the development of the classified and hierarchical teaching model. CONCLUSIONS : On the basis of classified and layered curriculum, the establishment of a “big curriculum system” of college public sports, combined with the integrated teaching process in and out of class, the screening of physically fit vulnerable groups, and the classified and layered teaching are conducive to improving the overall physical health level of college students. Breaking through the physical education teaching mode of ordinary colleges and universities, which mainly focuses on sports skill level stratification, teaching by physical fitness classification, focusing on improving students’ physical health level, focusing on the passing rate of students’ physical fitness test, and benchmarking the guiding ideology of “health first” college physical education teaching, can be popularized and applied in college physical education teaching, and has practical significance for college physical education curriculum reform.

      • Power and QoS Aware Multi-level Resource Coordination and Scheduling in Virtualized Servers

        Congfeng Jiang,Jingling Mao,Dongyang Ou,Yumei Wang,Xindong You,Jilin Zhang,Jian Wan 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.9 No.11

Modern cloud data centers are virtualized for resource multiplexing and services consolidations. Virtual machines (VMs) residing in the same server cluster share the same hardware resources and power supply while they may have different QoS requirements for their services and applications. Moreover, the power consumption of the server cluster is highly dynamic since different virtual machines have different workloads due to different services requests. Cluster level power and QoS coordination is crucial for data center level energy efficiency coordination as well as high quality service provisioning. In this paper we propose the power and QoS aware multi-level resource coordination and scheduling in virtualized servers, i.e., the cluster-level power control layer, the VMs resource allocation layer, and the QoS optimization layer. This three-level controlling framework schedules and allocates hardware resource for QoS guarantee and cluster level power management. We use dynamic frequency scaling for QoS mitigating when power budget changes. The experiment results show that the proposed multi-level coordinated control architecture consumes 5.36% and 6.96% less power for web servers and computing intensive virtual machines, respectively while it can guarantee the response time of web server and execution time of computing tasks no more than those without the proposed controlling approach.

Full State Constraints-based Adaptive Fuzzy Finite-time Command Filtered Control for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Stochastic Systems

        Qi Jiang,Yumei Ma,Jiapeng Liu,Jinpeng Yu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.8

In this paper, the problem of full state constraints-based adaptive fuzzy finite-time command filtered control (FTCFC) is investigated for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) stochastic systems. Firstly, the barrier Lyapunov functions are introduced to avoid the violation of the state constraints. Then, the unknown nonlinear functions are approximated by the fuzzy logic systems (FLSs) in PMSM stochastic systems. Furthermore, the finite-time control method is proposed by combing command filtered backstepping and adaptive fuzzy control, and the improved finite-time command filter can solve the problem of “explosion of complexity”, and relax the condition of input signal. It is shown that the required tracking performance can be realized in finite time, and the boundedness of all signals in the closed-loop system is guaranteed. Finally, simulation results illustrate the validity of the studied method.

Silicate Ions Derived from Calcium Silicate Extract Decelerate Ang II-Induced Cardiac Remodeling

        Li Xin,Zhang Yanxin,Jin Qishu,Song Qiaoyu,Fan Chen,Jiao Yiren,Yang Chen,Chang Jiang,Dong Zhihong,Que Yumei 한국조직공학과 재생의학회 2023 조직공학과 재생의학 Vol.20 No.5

BACKGROUND: Pathological cardiac hypertrophy is one of the main activators of heart failure. Currently, no drug can completely reverse or inhibit the development of pathological cardiac hypertrophy. To this end, we proposed a silicate ion therapy based on extract derived from calcium silicate (CS) bioceramics for the treatment of angiotensin II (Ang II) induced cardiac hypertrophy. METHODS: In this study, the Ang II induced cardiac hypertrophy mouse model was established, and the silicate ion extract was injected to mice intravenously. The cardiac function was evaluated by using a high-resolution Vevo 3100 small animal ultrasound imaging system. Wheat germ Agglutinin, Fluo4-AM staining and immunofluorescent staining was conducted to assess the cardiac hypertrophy, intracellular calcium and angiogenesis of heart tissue, respectively. RESULTS: The in vitro results showed that silicate ions could inhibit the cell size of cardiomyocytes, reduce cardiac hypertrophic gene expression, including atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and b-myosin heavy chain (b-MHC), decrease the content of intracellular calcium induced by Ang II. In vivo experiments in mice confirmed that intravenous injection of silicate ions could remarkably inhibit the cardiac hypertrophy and promote the formation of capillaries, further alleviating Ang II-induced cardiac function disorder. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated that the released silicate ions from CS possessed potential value as a novel therapeutic strategy of pathological cardiac hypertrophy, which provided a new insight for clinical trials.
