Dynamics-Based Location Prediction and Neural Network Fine-Tuning for Task Offloading in Vehicular Networks

Yuanguang Wu,Lusheng Wang,Caihong Kai,Min Peng 한국인터넷정보학회 2023 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.17 No.12

Task offloading in vehicular networks is hot topic in the development of autonomous driving. In these scenarios, due to the role of vehicles and pedestrians, task characteristics are changing constantly. The classical deep learning algorithm always uses a pre-trained neural network to optimize task offloading, which leads to system performance degradation. Therefore, this paper proposes a neural network fine-tuning task offloading algorithm, combining with location prediction for pedestrians and vehicles by the Payne model of fluid dynamics and the car-following model, respectively. After the locations are predicted, characteristics of tasks can be obtained and the neural network will be fine-tuned. Finally, the proposed algorithm continuously predicts task characteristics and fine-tunes a neural network to maintain high system performance and meet low delay requirements. From the simulation results, compared with other algorithms, the proposed algorithm still guarantees a lower task offloading delay, especially when congestion occurs.

Transmission of symbiotic fungus with a nonsocial leaf-rolling weevil

        Xiaoqiong Li,Wenfeng Guo,Yuanguang Wen,Manoj Kumar Solanki,Jianqing Ding 한국응용곤충학회 2016 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.19 No.3

Transmission modes of symbionts with fungus-growing insects are closely related to the stability of symbioses. As compare to social fungus-farming insects, transmission modes of nonsocial fungus-farming insects need to be further investigated. Euops chinensis, a nonsocial leaf-rolling weevil, harbors a symbiotic fungus Penicillium herquei in the specialized mycangium. Previous works have indicated that P. herquei is cultivated to host plants by females during oviposition process, however, it is still unclear when (before or after oviposition) and how P. herquei is transmitted. In this study, we observed fungal cultivating behaviors and adult bodies by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and compared isolation rates of P. herquei on ovary eggs, newly oviposited eggs, cradle leaves (leaf pieces cut before rolling cradles), cradles, and female mycangia. Fungal isolateswere identified by internal transcribed spacers (ITS) and cytochrome oxidase I (COI) genes.Wefound the female's serrated tarsi and comb-like setae on the abdomen were specialized structures for fungal transmission. Newly oviposited eggs showed 81.11% frequency of fungal symbionts, but ovary eggs did not showany growth of fungal symbionts. Isolation rates of P. herquei on cradle leaves, mycangia and cradles were 76.67%, 77.71% and 87.72%, respectively. Analyses of ITS and COI genes showed that isolated fungal strains belong to the same species. We concluded that P. herquei was transmitted before oviposition, and the female's tarsi are newly found specialized structures for fungal transmission. This study elucidates the cultivar transmission modewith fungus-farming attelabidweevils, and might be useful to study of other fungiculture mutualisms.

Study on the neutron imaging detector with high spatial resolution at China spallation neutron source

        Jiang, Xingfen,Xiu, Qinglei,Zhou, Jianrong,Yang, Jianqing,Tan, Jinhao,Yang, Wenqin,Zhang, Lianjun,Xia, Yuanguang,Zhou, Xiaojuan,Zhou, Jianjin,Zhu, Lin,Teng, Haiyun,Yang, Gui-an,Song, Yushou,Sun, Zhiji Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.6

Gadolinium oxysulfide (GOS) is regarded as a novel scintillator for the realization of ultra-high spatial resolution in neutron imaging. Monte Carlo simulations of GOS scintillator show that the capability of its spatial resolution is towards the micron level. Through the time-of-flight method, the light output of a GOS scintillator was measured to be 217 photons per captured neutron, ~100 times lower than that of a ZnS/LiF:Ag scintillator. A detector prototype has been developed to evaluate the imaging solution with the GOS scintillator by neutron beam tests. The measured spatial resolution is ~36 ㎛ (28 line pairs/mm) at the modulation transfer function (MTF) of 10%, mainly limited by the low experimental collimation ratio of the beamline. The weak light output of the GOS scintillator requires an enormous increase in the neutron flux to reduce the exposure time for practical applications.

A novel ceramic GEM used for neutron detection

        Zhou, Jianrong,Zhou, Xiaojuan,Zhou, Jianjin,Jiang, Xingfen,Yang, Jianqing,Zhu, Lin,Yang, Wenqin,Yang, Tao,Xu, Hong,Xia, Yuanguang,Yang, Gui-an,Xie, Yuguang,Huang, Chaoqiang,Hu, Bitao,Sun, Zhijia,Chen, Korean Nuclear Society 2020 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.52 No.6

A novel ceramic Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) has been developed to meet the demand of high counting rate for the neutron detection which is an alternative to 3He-based detector at China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS). An experiment was performed to measure the neutron transmittance of ceramic-GEM and FR4-GEM at the small angle neutron scattering (SANS) instrument. The result showed the ceramic-GEM has higher transmittance and less self-scattering especially for cold neutrons. One single ceramic GEM could give a gain of 102-104 in the mixture gas of Ar and CO2 (90%:10%) and its energy resolution was about 27.7% by using 55Fe X ray of 5.9 keV. A prototype has been developed in order to investigate the performances of the ceramic GEM-based neutron detector. Several neutron beam tests, including detection efficiency, spatial resolution, two-dimensional imaging, and wavelength spectrum, were carried out at CSNS and China Mianyang Research Reactor (CMRR). The results show that the ceramic GEM-based neutron detector is a good candidate to measure the high intensity neutrons.
